Because it's shit? Where is this passion you speak of? Pretty much every tune (even the good ones) sounds soulless and dull.

I actually agree with ferret. There's no passion on that album except perhaps on the title track...

But I disagree with it being shit. It's not THAT bad... I mean HAND and bounce and tlfr are all worse albums.... Though that's not saying much...

Seconded. It's not a dreadful album (nowhere near as bad as 'Bounce'), it's just that all the tracks sound so forced and soulless (just like 'Bounce')

I always lol that people judge the "soul" that went into a piece of music.
As for LH, I still maintain it's got a (mostly) really good first half, and a (mostly) dreadful second.

That's actually really weird, because those are the only 2 songs off of side two that I listen to, and the reason I said it was (mostly) bad. I love the lyrics to Everybody's Broken.

yeah, you can really tell that song is about Richie.... Even though it sounds kinda like Matchbox 20, it has a charm that I just can't let go off. and yeah, I relate to it alot on a personal level so I admit I'm comepletely biased on this....

Off of LH, I guess this is what I think:

Excellent songs - 'Whole Lot Of Leaving', 'The Last Night', 'Lost Highway', '(You Want To) Make A Memory'

Good songs - 'One Step Closer', 'Seat Next To You', 'Everybody's Broken', 'Summertime'

Bad songs - 'I Love This Town', 'Til We Ain't Strangers Anymore'

Disgusting songs that I never want to hear again as long as I'm alive - 'Any Other Day', 'We Got It Going On'

.

That's a pretty fair assessment. The only changes i would make are:

Swap:
One Step Closer for The Last Night
Seat Next to You for Whole Lot Of Leaving
Any Other Day for Summertime

Huh, We Got It Goin' On is a really cool tune!

And it's awesome live. And the bonus songs make this record better too.
I have NEVER understand why the Guys put one of the best songs only as bonus ones? Why? See: Neurotica, Welcome To The Good Times, Ain't No Cure For Love, Standing, Stay, Dirty Little Secret, Unbreakable, Lonely, Put The Boy Back In Cowboy and so on! All of these are awesome but only bonus or demos of albums that could sound much better if they were officialy in the setlist. What a pity!!!
