it seemed to me that people were discounting slash with the izzy being the heart of the band comments. izzy wrote some good tunes but to me axl & slash are the most important members of the band.

Slash and Axl were more important for the image of the band. But Izzy was the backbone, after he left they became a parody of themself.

I'm still not seeing how there is much to go on to support izzy being the backbone. They never released another studio album of original material after illusions. we got axl's solo album after he worked on it for 15 years. If you want to say all 3 are integral sure. They were certainly better together than they were apart. I don't mind axl's solo album and I don't mind the 4th slash album 4, I don't like anything izzy nor duff for that matter have done outside the band.

(The real heart and soul of GNR was by the way Izzy, since he left I lost interest.)
100% agreed. I've seen GNR in 2017 and in 2023 in Athens, Axl can put on a show for 3 hours non stop but his vocals are pretty bad these days. In 2017 was much better too.

Slash and Duff carry the show.
