Where do we draw the line? Jon is certainly not a vocalist in the league of someone like George Michael. However, there are artists like Axl Rose and Vince Neil who are arguably sounding just as rough—or perhaps even worse—than Jon. Based on that comparison alone, Jon could justify continuing to tour.

Then there's the issue of longevity. How healthy is his voice for sustained performance? Can it handle hours of singing each night, multiple days a week?

If Jon utilizes every strategy at his disposal—and I mean every trick in the book—he might be able to pull off a major stadium tour. Bringing Richie back would be a big help, and perhaps Richie, Phil, and Dave could each take a song to give Jon some vocal rest. The band could also carry most of the choruses, allowing Jon to focus on the verses. Pair that with one or two strong opening acts so Jon’s set only needs to last about two hours, and the tour could be a viable possibility.

He'll sound terrible on YouTube but he only needs to sound good enough to fake the live audience.

I’m afraid that Bon Jovi will just fade away. In my (dreaming) mind I’ve always pictured something like them playing Always or Never Say Goodbye as their final song ever, but I don’t think Jon will ever be able to tour again. It’s extremely sad.

If we are now putting Jon in the same league as Vince Neil, then it's well and truely over. Unlike Jon, Vince was always terrible live. Worse now yes, but he was never in the same league as Jon. Not even close.

My point is... If Vince and Axl are going to continue on regardless of what anyone says or thinks, then why shouldn't Jon just continue on as well at this point?

If there's any truth at all to his introspective speeches about his voice in the doc, I feel the reason by now has become that he has doubts and insecurity that even he can't shake off anymore.
I mean there have been rumours that Phil will get back to his own band full time since the touring machine's been put on hold by Jon indefinitely (and probably once and for all).

There was a quote from him in the 90s: "If I ever lose that confidence, if I ever look down from that tightrope, I'll fall. I get to be a cocky SOB out there."

I think it's now not to the fans to think he shouldn't do it, but down to him thinking he's not gonna be able to do it again.

I think you are completely right.

Because Vince and Axl are now seen as an embaressment. Do you really want Jon to go out like that? Does Jon? I doubt that very much. Remember his comments years ago about how he never wants to become "fat Elvis"? I doubt that he's now ok with being "fat Vince"...

Steven Tyler didn't want to do that - so he quit. And I have the utmost repect for him for that!

I don't know when you guys saw Axl live, but he is nowhere as bad as Vince and Jon live.

I feel sad for Jon. It's always sad when the best performers go out in a low. If Bon Jovi had retired from touring after the HoF, we all would be relatively satisfied. Not their prime, but, they would not have gone through the embarrassment that was the 2022 tour.

True enough. My point was...I guess I took "He's able to keep his guitar player happy" as if his involvement in the song creation is on a Richie level. Looking at the credits for the last album, Keith only played on 5 of the 12 tracks and Jim co-wrote 3. I just didn't get the comparison being made.

It feels like Jim went from a Richie level co-writer to a Falcon level I guess? haha

He's also had a pretty big falling out with Jim Vallance though, and they don't really write together anymore. He sends his ideas, Jim sends some changes and that's it.

Keith Scott has absolutely nothing to say in regards to what goes on in Bryan Adams shows and albums. He's as much of a hired hand as anyone else.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
