Hard on his voice is an understatement ! His head looks like its going to explode when he attemps it , and it sounds terrible . Leave it out ....

Urmmm the show personally I loved it, it was a fantastic experience, ill admit some songs did fall flat, while others "in these arms" especially went down very well, water is a fantastic opener, and as much as I'm not really a fan "sleep" went down ok, Phil X did a great job and Jon and the rest of the guys seemed to be in a great mood, BWC was received well some chick in the circle was handing out green red and yellow balloons which I think where to represent Portugal, So yea would have liked "Always" but I got radio loves the only rule and a few songs off the new record which was cool all in all I had a great time
Where's TwinFan with a period or two to throw in here?

- this was by far the lamest crowd i have ever experienced. i'm still puzzled. was i really in Portugal? it didn't seem like it at all. absolutely freaking lame.

- sound was terrible. there were times the sound was good, there were times we could hardly hear a thing. all during the same song. in fact, i can not remember the last time i experienced such a bad sound overall.

- surprisingly, Because We Can was very well received.

- many songs fell flat, if not most of the set. Water, Radio (i was the only one who seemed to know it where i was), What About Now, Superman Tonight, We Weren't Born To Follow, What's Left Of Me.

- Richie was extremely missed. Phil did a great job but no, it didn't feel like a Bon Jovi show. still, had the crowd and setlist been better, that would could've been easily overlooked.

- ah yeah, no Buick. too big? it's a freaking park!

all in all, by far the worst Bon Jovi show i've ever been to.
Yikes ... Seems like exactly the opposite of what happened in 2011.

I think the crowd was lame about everywhere this tour in europe ..i know it is not really lame but the crowd is NOT into it at ANY SHOW to me Portugal is not different don't blame your people I feel like they react with what they get ..it is well done (no mistakes ) it is a good set but it is NOT the usual bon jovi ... the crowd react to that - everywhere ..never I felt like wow that audience was nuts ... I thought the pit was strong in prague for example but the rest of the stadium was like under some sort of coma... Jon begs for reaction all the time and he WORKS HARD for it but it is just not working (just like the cell phone 'thing' yeah you may get a good photo of it but it is after 10 minutes after he asked for it ... its NOT instant reward at all ) I DO FEEL SAD for Jon and his musicians, they keep smiling but you can feel it's not a happy tour

As much as I haven't had the chance to visit any other show except for Sofia, I think the Bulgarian crowd was really into the show. Maybe this is due to the fact that most Bulgarian fans had been waiting for the band to come here for ages, but I can honestly say that the vibe in the stadium was just perfect. Too bad that this pollen thing happened. Otherwise, I agree with just about everything you say in your post. I just don't understand why this is happening this way....

1. The crowd were into it at the show I was at.

2. 'Jon and his musicians'? Respectful.

I've been to 3 European shows and the crowd was very into it every time. Cologne even had pretty much the best crowd I've experienced at a concert so far.

I know you haven't been happy with Richie's absence and you are entitled to those feelings and your opinion but why do David and Tico, who have been there through thick and thin, get relegated to "his musicians"? I am trying to understand how their contributions are so easily discarded as far as the live shows.

Exactly.

We get it, you miss Richie. Either accept the show for what it is or sell your tickets and move on. You're making the same rehashed post after every gig. It's not an unhappy tour for the band(from what I can tell) its an unhappy tour for you.

I don't quite get the outrage with that comment. Even if Richie was on stage, it's been turning into a Jon & Co type gig since pretty much the Lost Highway tour (that's when I noticed it first). I think every review of a Jovi show post 2008 that I have written, I mentioned that this is what the band is turning into. It's not disrespectful towards Tico and David because it's not their fault, if anyone's, it's Jon's.

Again, to me, this is just an observation of the state of affairs. At lest when Richie was there, there was SOME interaction between Jon and him. With Phil X there seems to be a lot less. So yes - a Bon Jovi show in 2013 seems just like Jon and his musicians. Even the E-Street band gets more prominence on stage, so why the outrage, I really don't understand.
