But, if that is one of your important elements for a band to be seen as a band then more power to you.
Hah, the dismissive tone comes through even in writing. Well, as somebody who pays most attention to the actual 'performance' rather than 'entertainment' aspect of a show, it does bother me. And of course it makes a difference between a solo show and a band show.

I don't see many solo acts simply because of that reason - I need to see the guitarist, the drummer, the bass player - they are usually as important to me or more important than the singer. When I saw Richie live last fall, it was him in front of a bunch of session musicians who knew what their place was. It was an obvious solo show and there was a clear line between Richie and the rest. That was never the case with Bon Jovi before the Lost Highway tour. Granted I haven't seen them on this tour, but all I hear is that it's more and more of a Jon solo and I can see why. The only interaction before was with Richie. I doubt he interacts with Phil that much. Compare that to the 'triple-attacks' on Blood on Blood or Runaway when Alec was still in or the early days with Hugh.

Anyway - again, whatever the reasons for Jovimini's posts - they are not inaccurate. It is Jon and his musicians. And no, it's not disrespectful to Dave and Tico because that's how it looks and feels like.

This tour is even worse. don't use the gangway to do something acoustic and Something for the pain.
Now we have Jon alone on the gangway, and it is very sad for me.

It is so obvious that lack the sound that brings Sambora.

These things have been lost, the gangway is not used. Richie is gone. I hope Richie come back soon and everything will return to be as before.
Maybe it's an "indoor v outdoor" thing with the walkway.....
Seems to have had a lot more use on indoor shows than on outdoor ones and there could be some valid reasons for it (weather being one).
Of course, the walkway is also there to segregate the different ticket price bands.

To be honest though, I couldn't care less if the walkway is used or not, or if Dave/Tico get to sing a solo song.
I go to the shows to just have a damn good sing-a-long!!!

I can see we aren't going to agree so I'll simply say I apologize for the perceived dismissive tone as it wasn't my intention.

Mirielle, you also have other stuff that's going on that to be fair - is going to make you enjoy a show even less - and you weren't thrilled with them to begin with, but your mind is understandably going to be on other things.

The crowd was great at Slane. The dullest crowd I've seen was Murrayfield last tour - at least it was in the Gold Circle, but I've also found fan club/Diamond Circle crowds to be pretty tame and in all honesty, have had much more fun in GA.

If you don't enjoy the shows that much why bother going to each and every show?

Masochist.

i had already lowered my expectations so i wouldn't leave disappointed. i'm not really the type of person to complain and i'm generally easily pleased, not too demanding, etc. you catch my drift. am i surprised to say i still managed to leave the show incredibly disappointed.

- the show lasted 2h15. i could tell it the encore would be short, as Jon seemed totally burned out after Bad Medicine.

- no audibles were added to set. what you see in the encore, is what we got.

- Bed Of Roses wasn't played, but In These Arms was. In These Arms was one of the few moments the crowd seemed to be awake.

- this was by far the lamest crowd i have ever experienced. i'm still puzzled. was i really in Portugal? it didn't seem like it at all. absolutely freaking lame.

- sound was terrible. there were times the sound was good, there were times we could hardly hear a thing. all during the same song. in fact, i can not remember the last time i experienced such a bad sound overall.

- surprisingly, Because We Can was very well received.

- many songs fell flat, if not most of the set. Water, Radio (i was the only one who seemed to know it where i was), What About Now, Superman Tonight, We Weren't Born To Follow, What's Left Of Me.

- Richie was extremely missed. Phil did a great job but no, it didn't feel like a Bon Jovi show. still, had the crowd and setlist been better, that would could've been easily overlooked.

- ah yeah, no Buick. too big? it's a freaking park!

all in all, by far the worst Bon Jovi show i've ever been to.
This is my biggest gripe with Jovi (yes i do actually have one!) its not really fair that they play 2hrs 15 mins one night and then probably 3 hours the night after. Yes yes yes i know they have always done this etc etc, but that does not make it right or fair.

Would be nice if they say guaranteed at least 2 hrs 30 mins every show and some may reach 3 hours but the minimum you get is the 2hrs 30!

Id hate to think i was only going to 1 show and i got a short set.

Chris

If we're talking fair then they should play the same setlist every night.

I DO FEEL SAD for you that someone is holding a gun to your head to make you go to all these shows. If only you could just get a refund and not go................
