Just got back home after seeing the St Louis and Louisville shows. My impressions were, at both shows the tech was really good. They seem to have worked out the kinks and there is enough production that you know you are at an A list bands concert, but not so much that it distracts you from the music or the band, which for me is a good thing.
St. Louis was what i call a very good show. Band sounds tight, even on the new songs, Jon was in good to very good voice. I didn't mind him playing more guitar, I don't know somehow it seems to fit him now, or maybe it didn't bother me because i knew from videos it was happening. It wasn't like he was a statue, he did plenty of roaming, it just wasn't as frentic as in the past. The crowd was ok at this one, they were appreciative i thought but not the loudest or most excited crowd i've seen.
Louisville was an excellent show for me. A much more vocal crowd, Jon was in excellent voice and mood for this one. He seemed to really have fun. Band was tight again, and Richie seems much more into it all than he did last couple of tours. He seems to really have settled in to hismself again, it's like his skin fits him again.
I really like the new stuff live, I haven't heard the record yet so I won't give impressions until I have. One day here at home then it's off to OKC and Lubbock.
For Deb and Mireille sp? Always rocked it in Louisville!!! Jons voice is getting in real tour shape now.

I was there. Set lists look correct though I did not keep notes or anything.

Also, I'm happy that I can start following set lists again after seeing the show. I intentionally stopped following things so I could enjoy this show a little more than I have the past few shows I've seen (Nashville in 2008 and Nashville and Louisville in 2010). It added back the element of surprise for me and I appreciated that.

Quick review: Jon's obviously not as energetic as he used to be and they are no longer the same BAND they used to be (I miss a third person on the front of the stage). It was still VERY enjoyable and a great time — but as a die-hard, it's noticeable.

Richie made the show, for me. Whether it's his solo work giving a creative spark or sobriety or whatever, he was on fire last night. His solos were pretty insane and he was much higher in the mix than he's been the past few times.

I will also say American crowds are about 75% lame. There's little support for new material and quite a few people around me in section 212 left after about 45 minutes (!!!) of the show. I know the band and its fan base are getting older and I can appreciate that, but all I wanted most of the night was the be able to be down with other FANS and not with so many casual folks who only know Prayer, Wanted, etc.

That being said, the crowd got REALLY loud toward the end and I was happy to hear Always (which I hadn't heard live since '95). Also happy to hear RYH and BoR which I had never heard live.

Too many freaking Lost Highway songs (I Love This Town to end the show? They've been there twice since 1987 ... not exactly "love" is it

Things that have to go IMO: Sleep When I'm Dead, WGIGO, Lost Highway, BTBMB. I could do without WSYGCH but the crowd ate it up so I'm fine with that one.

Enjoyed BWC and TWTWMM from the new record a lot. Also loved the new KTF ending. Totally didn't see that coming and I really dug it.

Superman Tonight, sung with more power than its last outing:

Sadly for others, not for me, I'm an old school girl Mireille, when it comes to shows, no phones, tweeting, texting etc.......... I go to enjoy the band playing live, and I like to get lost in it. LOL
