My opinion:

It is the right of an artist to play the songs on its own concerts which HE wants to play! If Bj wants to play bad Name, Medicine, Sleep and all that stuff.......for God's sake let them play those songs!!!!!
Are you all fans of Bj or you not? Do you skip sleep wqhen you listen to KTF? I like most of the songs from BJ and I'm happy with the setlists. I'M NOT GETTING TIRED OF A SONG FROM ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BANDS!!!!!!

About covers:
To play Twist and Shout is an old jersey tradition. Springsteen ends up his shows with Twist and Shout back in the 70ies.
To play Shout is fine IMO. You just have to look at London video. Shout is one of the finest moments in that concert.

i would also like to hear some rare stuff but when i go to a BJ show I go there to have a good time and not to complain about the set(like some of you seem to do ). I'm grateful for every song.

But on the other hand for those of you how think you have to do rehearsals before the tour to play rare stuff:
In Albany on 12/13/2002 Springsteen did a show. It was the 49th show of the "The Risng" tour. he played a song called "Around and Around" which played the last time in 1978.

I think the thing is, though, is that if the fans notice that they're playing the same songs repeatedly, so will the critics. (Yeah, they say they don't read the reviews, but they do.) With this much touring in such a short period of time (2000, 2001 and now 2003), some of them are bound to notice how similar the setlists are.

I give them points for at least juggling the songs somewhat in the setlist. I have my own thoughts about why you see the same songs constantly, but having been around since the invention of dirt, the contrast between how they used to construct setlists back in the day and how they do it now is kind of disturbing. The intensity of the shows hasn't changed much, but I never expected them, even back in 1993, to be in this kind of setlist rut.

they can sing what they decide to sing, i'll be happy,

I thought I read somewhere the guys had not been to those cities since??? Were they there for the Crush/OWN Tour?? If not, then maybe that's why the guys decided to do a lot of the favorites. Maybe here in the states we may even get a song off the new Target Red cd. That would be soooo cool!! Well, whatever Jon decides is fine with me. I'm just so happy to see them live again. I'm just wishing for Bed of Roses in Milwaukee!!

Check out Osaka 1 and Osaka 2- either they are listening to us or there are too many fans here with too little faith. I think it is a combination of the two.

sure there were a couple of extra songs - but the whole point should be the setlists were virtually the same...

sorry jedijovi... i was going off 1st night... yes 2nd night is much more like it!

it's still not perfect... but dropping shout as we all know was 15 years overdue... they've literally been doing it since 89 - and it was ok as a novelty in those days...

i don't think it is a lack of faith... it is just that the facts speak for themselves... if you get me i personally don't like a lot of the new album, but that aside i like the fact that they decided to play a couple of songs they wouldn't necessarily keep in the setlist...

and if they can keep the sets changing constantly throughout the tour then that is the BJ i know and love from the 80s/early 90s...

spontanaeity is as much the key to rock n roll as are songs and musicianship.

Dry County wasn't on Cross Road. And it was only released as a single in Europe and Japan.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan
neither was livin' in sin but on the strength that they were released as singles (even if only europe/uk/japan or whatever) they are still hits in the sense they entered the charts...

and of course they are on the video of crossroads which is what i was referring to...

i still think the test is how the first few weeks of the tour go rather than just 1st few days however, as UK always gets poor setlists - due to the singles released perhaps for crush but also because the charts are dominated by such poor pop music...

last time we had a stint of wild is the wind, livin' in sin and a couple of homebound trains then the UK shows i went to saw the reappearance of say it isn't so... doesn't compare...

hopefully the sets will be inventive.
