To me THIS is what I'd focus on. Considering he didn't leave for drug/rehab reasons. For them to say that NOW is really strange.
This is really interesting! Maybe there's something lost in translation? He could be talking about the 2011 tour. But, as you said, it's weird he brought to the table now.

There was an interview late in 13 when Tico and David both referred to RS "Health"... I think many took that as he was in trouble again and the Euro shows especially he did - people I know who were there and these boards seemed to confirm. Ok - so now we're off on RS drama again and that's one reason I didn't focus on that. Sorry Mods.... Back to your regularly scheduled programming.

One thing is derailing the thread with a 10,000 characters post that has a lot of pointless quotes that nobody gets trying to prove that without Richie the band is dead because an Illuminati shit and other discussing about quote a related article had.

And I'm saying this being the #1 Richie drama hater. That was a good find!

Yes, really weird. I thought it was about the 2011 tour too, but talk about this now doesn't make sense. Maybe it's a translation thing.

I thought the interview was no clicking, with odds mentions like the drug addiction thing that is today totally out of the blue and not making sense. Plus I don't think Phil Xenidis is an official band member (like mentioned by golittleperson) he is not appearing with the band - all in all the article sounds with a mix of info but quite unreliable just a way to talk about the band and sell tickets for the coming show (eventually)

Aloha !

That article is just a mix of quotes of old interviews, but both Tico and David have hinted at Richie being addicted again after Richie claimed he was completely sober.

Yeah, it's a little weird that they'd announce it so close to the end of the tour -- ticket sales need a boost?

Announcing Phil as the new lead guitarist won't do anything sales wise.

It doesn't say anything about official. It just says that he's a band member, which by all accounts he is, just as much as Hugh and Matt. They're up there playing with the band, they're part of the show, something must have been lost in translation but that's about all I'm getting from that article....

I think there are some "translation" issues too but article said: "X took over and made such an impression that he was enlisted as an official member last month."
