overview
Our Foundation was created to bring a
greater understanding, awareness and
compassion to those suffering through the
experience of domestic violence. Our
mission is ?educating to end the cycle of
domestic violence and save lives.? It
is under this guiding principle that
we established our Foundation?s
programming initiative, Margaret?s
Place.
Margaret's Place, a tribute to Joe
Torre's mother, is a comprehen-
sive program which provides
middle and high school students
with a safe room in school, where
they can talk to each other and to
a professional counselor trained
in domestic violence intervention
and prevention. This non-
threatening environment has
proven to be an effective setting
in which to promote discussion
of issues surrounding violence,
while also offering peer support
and education to change school
culture.
Our hope is that children will learn
that domestic violence is not their
fault, and our goal is to help them
discover healthy alternatives to such
violence.
As we continue to expand our awareness
campaigns, programming and outreach
efforts we need the help and support of
others who believe in our mission of
educating to end the cycle of violence.
