Default Bremen review - Laura and Taija

This is a bit late, but here goes anyways.

We got to the Weserstadium one and half hours later than planned because of delay in trains due to heavy thunder somewhere between Berlin and Bremen. (We were in Berlin to meet Choc - great! ). We got numbers 12 and 13. The night was really really cold and humid because of the River Weser just nearby.

The list worked as before, thanks to the same people as before. We thought we might have to move at one point, but fortunately didn't. We got in at around four pm, and got our wristbands at the entrance. Kevin arranged us in lines four by four in a platform inside the stadium, and we waited until everybody got in through the security check, which was stricter than before. We walked in, keeping the order, through the seated stand. There was a bit of hassle upon entering the pit, but we managed to get good spots between Jon and David, next to Marijke and Inge.

We were sitting down in the pit, eating ice cream. The wait wasn't as long before, because of the time it took to get through the security check. Also, the weather was just perfect, not too warm or too cold, either.

Life was the opening act again, and they're getting better everytime we see them. Laura will most likely be a fan by Hyde Park.

We made a banner earlier in the afternoon saying "it's 99 in the shade and you're even hotter, Jon". Taija covered Jon's name with her hands, and Laura held it up for the singer of Live (would be good to know his name we guess). He didn't seem to appreciate it, maybe he didn't see the point. Hih.

After Avril, the familiar intro to Bounce got the show started. Our almost-life-long dream came true when Jon came on stage wearing blue jeans!!! By then, it really felt like 99 in the shade, altho it quite wasn't.

In Wild in the streets, Jon noticed out 99 in the shade banner, flashed The Smile, and shook his head as if saying "tut, tut".

KTF was played without an extra verse or a medley. Laura missed something special in it.

Saturday night was amazing again, but it seems to be hard for Jon's voice for some reason (if someone who knows more about these things could shed some light on why it is, please share it with us), he was coughing again when singing out the weekdays.

The best surprise of the many surprises of the night was Blood on blood. Crowd went wild! Even though it can never again be what it was in e.g. Moscow 89 with Alec jamming along, it is still one of the very best Bon Jovi songs live.

During Dave's intro to In these arms, Jon started waving at the cameraman like crazy, motioning him to turn around. He had noticed a banner in the crowd saying "Please let us hear David's version of In these arms". Jon took his microphone over to David, who sang the first verse to the song. What a treat!!! After that, Jon took over. After the song, Jon said we might even get Tico to sing by the end of the night if we got lucky. We didn't. "What a tease," Laura says.

It was funny seeing David flirt with Marijke, who had a David banner, all through the show

Throughout the show, where fitting, Jon gave amazing rock screams.

Sleep when I'm dead was very cool. Jon sang the whole second verse without taking a breath, but couldn't quite make it all the way. During the song, they broke into Dancing in the streets, which was a great surprise for Laura, who had just wished to hear the song the previous day. The band played it for a while, then Jon said something like oops, a wrong song, I'm getting crazy, and they started playing Rocking all over the world.

I got the girl was a huge surprise in the encore. "This song really rocks live, I'm glad they played it," Laura says. The 2nd song in the encore and last song of the concert, was I believe. The encores might not have been long, but at least they were made special.

A few backstagish comments for those who for some reason might be interested, hih. 1) We got this amazing, intensive look from Jon during Undivided. Wow! 2) Jon was wearing a very expensive-looking leather jacket which was probably ruined in the end from his sweat. 3) Jon didn't change his clothes once.

Even though the show wasn't very long, it rocked! If this is what they offer, we'll keep going back for more.

Next stop Oostende! (we weren't supposed to go there but we can't resist...)

Jon was looking at them all the way through Ostend... he's still an 80s vocalist at heart
