Cameras @ concert?

Usually I bring a disposable camera to shows, and that works fine. But I am seeing Bon Jovi @ GIANTS STADIUM on July 29, and I am in section 327. A disposable camera wont get any pictures there. I was thinking about buying a key chain digital to bring, because I dont want to bring my regular digital. But keychains dont have a flash. My question is, at such a distance, would the flash make any difference anyway? Thanks.[/COLOR][/FONT]

You probably wouldn't have any trouble with your regular digital and you'd waste money on a keychain digital unless they've dramatically improved the zoom on them.

They wouldn't take away normal digital cameras from you over here. You only run the risk of confiscation if you have a removable lens - just take a look at your camera and ask yourself, "Does it look like a professional's camera?"

If the answer's no, you'll most likely be completely fine.

Would any of you be willing to give an opinion whether or not this camera would be seen as "looking professional?"

I want to take this camera with me to Giants on 7/29, but I'm very afraid they'll take it away from me. I'd end up very upset if they basically stole my camera from me. It was a christmas gift a few years ago!

..I doubt a flash would make any difference. As long as you take pics when the band are under full spotlight they should be OK. Normal digis are fine...could you imagine the hassle that they would have if they took everyones digi camera!...It's the proffessional ones...bigger than the palm of your hand...If concerned make sure it's at the bottom of your bag..under you're raincoat, suncreen, rainhat, sunhat, energy bar and in a brown paper bag. Oh my---I was starting to feel more sure of things, but it is bigger than the palm of my hand. It is the kind that holds a mini cd! It's old though (about 4 yrs old). So I don't know

Based on the pictures you posted of your camera, I think you'll be fine. It's not so much the SIZE of the camera that matters, but the type of lenses, zoom, etc. I think that if they saw your camera, they would realize that it's older and cameras from a few years ago were not as tiny as some of the ones you can buy today.

If you're still worried, you can try this trick I always use: put your camera in a sock (or if it won't fit in a sock then wrap it in something fabric) that is similar in color to the inside of your purse. Then put it in the bottom and cover it with a bunch of other things. Chances are security won't notice it. They have tens of thousands of bags to check, so they can't spend a lot of time looking at each one.

But even IF (and that's a big if) they were to find it and decide it was unacceptable, they wouldn't take your camera away. Usually the worst that would happen is that they take your CD or your batteries so you can't take pictures. Judging by my past experience at Giants Stadium though, even that is unlikely.

Hiding it in similar colored fabric at the bottom of your purse is a good idea. My husband and I have been getting recording gear in this way for quite awhile. Also, if it's small enough - stick it in your bra. Believe me - they won't touch you.

Cameras are really not a priority for security - unless they are video cameras. I don't even hide the camera and they have never said a word. I only hide the recording gear LOL.

Seriously, that camera will be completely fine. Keep anything you're unsure about at the bottom of your bag (as was said by someone else before) and they won't even find it.

When we went to see Jovi in Hyde Park (2003), they said no food or drinks containers over 500ml in size - this is absolutely tiny! I just took a backpack with me and, after having loaded it with 3 litre bottles of water and enough food in plastic containers to feed a small army, put my heavy coat in last. Security stopped me,

"Can I look in your bag?"

"Sure mate, no probs......"

Open it up and just explain that I'm carrying peeps' coats in case it rains and, "On ya go!" He didn't even bother having a rummage.

Nothin' to worry about at all believe me!

To be honest, they're not so bothered about people getting them in anyway cos, if your close enough to be using one effectively, they figure the stewards at the barriers will see you and ask you to put it away.
