If you can't use a flash, you might as well not bother taking photos! I got 1600 speed film (reccommened for low light/fast action like concerts) to use in Atlanta because I knew in the 4th row, the security would say I couldn't use my flash. The higher the speed of the film, the quicker it's supposed to capture the image and the less likely you are to need a flash. Well, even with 1600 speed film, I got blurs. The only photos I have that turned out well were the ones I took toward the end of the show when I flipped my flash back on because security wouldn't hassle anyone at that point. If you're using a flash, you will do just fine with 800 speed film. I used that with a flash from 7th row in St. Louis and all my photos but a couple turned out great. A disposable camera will make your photos look like they were taken 20-30 rows further back from whereever your sitting. So, take a normal 35 mm camera and hope you can use your flash. Security shouldn't hassle you for taking in a camera because part of the merchandise this time around is disposable cameras. Believe it or not, security in Atlanta even hassled someone in the 5th row about using a flash on a piece of crap disposable!

I recently got a really nice PENTAX camera second-hand for just £25. The thing is it didn't come with any instructions and I don't know how to turn the flash off. How does anyone here who has a Pentax turn their flash off (if you can at all)? Also, cos I'm going to the Hyde Park gig, I wanna get some really great photos. The camera has a zoom. Do you reckon its worth making like a secret flip up compartment in the bottom of my back-pack to put it in or should I just not risk it!

I'm not familar with that brand, but every brand of camera I've used has had the same flash-off symbol. It's like a little lightening strike with a circle around it and a slash through it. Some have rotating modes. Some you push a button and the different symbols will appear. But, perhaps if you look for that symbol you'll find it.

I've smuggled cameras to all the concerts I've been to (except 1), and Taija and I have been very creative in the past about hiding them. In Stockholm, I think we had 2 or 3 cameras with us. I would say go for the secret compartment, they can't inspect your bag that thoroughly. They just want to see what's inside. And if they spot it,

Hiding a camera in your sock is probably the worst way. They will in all likelihood find it.

OK. Dont wanna turn this into a debate or anything, because obviousely someone here outranks me, but i was talking about the normal run of the mill and disposable cameras, because not everyone has a nice SLR.

But hey, if your pics turn out good, well, all well and good. Just judging on past experiences, and from what I have been told at uni, for situations such as shows, with a cheapy camera, flash's are a no no.

But ofcourse, when you start to get into better cameras, and you use correct film, the chances of getting a better photo are increased.

Enough of that. I have been beaten.

A quick question... I got a Canon Ixus III APS camera for Xmas (cause I spilled Sprite all over my previous, expensive new APS camera ), do you think that's a good camera to take to a show? It's small, which is handy when you're hiding it and it's got about as long a zoom as an APS camera has.

I think (just from a layman's point of view) that the significance of flash on/off is reduced in a stadium concert, right? Cause there's also daylight.

hopefully you shouldnt have any problems getting your camera in, i even told the guy checking my bag at huddersfield in 2001 that i had a camera and he told me that that was fine.

Good luck, but i really dont think you need it!
