Everyone buys the tickets they can either afford or justify to themselves.

I hope everyone is happy with their seats, its better than not being there.
Of course if people are happy with their tickets, thats fine. But its when people complain about not getting a better ticket that pisses me off. You've know of this tour for nearly a year now - thats 12 months to save up. So you cant complain about getting a crappy ticket.

If I could have saved up $2000 to sit front row then I would have, that was impossible for me but I am very happy with the ticket I have. But thats me, I'd have saved up that much money to see my fave band up close. Most people wouldnt have, and most of us couldn't even save that money if we had five years in which to do it.

Obviously, we buy the tickets we can afford, but my point was that you cant complain about not being able to afford a better ticket when you could have saved up for this.

If you are disappointed with not getting better seats, then its your own fault, no offense.
As soon as the tour was announced, I started saving. I had over $400 when I bought my tickets in the Diamond Arena. I would never settle for Gold or Silver seats - why sit that far back when you can't even see the band? They'd be like ants!

If I hadn't saved and wanted to buy a ticket, I would have had to buy Silver tickets, and I would have been peeved off at that. My saving paid off, I have one of the best seats in the house, and I even had enough money left over to put aside for merch!

That said, if you are happy with your Gold and Silver seats then that's great, but remember your seats could be a heck of a lot better if you'd started saving the second you heard about the tour. $5 a week could have gotten you Platinum seats or better.
Oh so we should save 400 buks to see a concert should we?

Maybe you can pay attention when jon tells you how tough it has been for everybody including"him" during Love's the only rule. The guy is a dead set fake. You have been conned that's all.If you think it's worth saving 400 buks for a show then good on you.But to almost everybody else here it's laughable.

All I was asking about was experiences people had in those seats. And that's the feedback I got from the fans on this thread and I appreciate it. Not whingeing, go back to some of my previous posts on this board about how happy I am to have tickets and just be going.

it isn't a fact of saving up for tickets. Sure I could have saved and spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on a ticket but I don't WANT to. As much as I love the band they do rip the fans off with these prices, packages and fan club trips (yes I know a few people who have done them and been very disappointed).

I have been a huge fan for over 20 years , but I will never pay that kind of money for a ticket for ANY band/singer. Seems to me that a lot of fans seem to think the more money you spend the bigger fan it makes you.

and to everyone who answered my questions - thank you!! I am a stand up person at concerts.. could be interesting

And that's why the prices will continue to rise.

I cannot understand this mentality at all. I didn't go to any O2 shows because of the ridiculous pricing... and then they reduced the prices and started giving away free upgrades. If I had known that was going to happen, I would have budgeted for travel/accommodation well in advance but found myself suddenly able to justify spending cash on a 'reasonably priced' ticket but having no money to travel. I was obviously extremely angry that their greed had caused me to miss out but stood by my principles and didn't get sucked in by the apparent 'need' to see them.

When they return in 2011, if the prices are anything like they have been this year, I won't bother then either... but I'll budget for the travel in case there's a last minute panic-sale like there was this time.

If people were a little more patient and sensible, they'd realise that it isn't a one-way street and that if the tickets don't sell, the prices will come down. The attitude of blindly saving instead of stepping back and thinking, "Hang on a second - justify those prices!" before putting your hand in your wallet/purse is just brainless. The prices have obviously proven unacceptable to a lot of people so prove that they are unacceptable by boycotting them and not just saving longer and harder for them.

I usually buy the cheap tickets, as I prefer to watch as many shows as possible, and I'm not exactly shitting dollars. But if the band's setlist is good, no matter where I sit, I will enjoy it. It's the music that counts. So if you like the music more than the bandmembers, I reckon you will have a great time.

I agree with you, but regarding your last paragraph, Australia hasn't exactly had a visit every tour and I think the shows actually sold out without cooking numbers last time. This, coupled with the fact that our prices for products in general are higher than equivalents overseas, means the mentality IS different. Tickets at all levels are higher this time around than they were in 2008, with the diamond seating over $100 more, and don't get me started on packages -- and yet there hasn't been a peep locally compared to what we saw for the O2, Prudential, etc.

I know I'm a hypocrite for getting a diamond ticket and I won't fault people who do buy something they can afford. But I, and every other fan, also have every ****ing right to complain, whether it's for me or on behalf of other fans -- Next time it'll probably be $400 for diamond seats. On the These Days tour I think it was a little over AU $100. Supply and demand? Sure, but they're also making a calculated move to take advantage of people (not just in Oz), and it's the very people without whom this band would not exist.

Maybe complaining will make no difference but not complaining will definitely make no difference. I'd have loved Liam Bartlett to ask Jon about ticket prices even though that would've put him in an even fouler mood.
