yes, but a band can't be better than it's set, if you play crap songs, no matter how good you are, it will amount to a bad show.
from Mr McRock - It sort of sets the tone as to what to expect.

I have read back & have noticed u have started to include u enjoy the shows anyway - so I guess my perceptions r wrong - I apologise for that.

I should have read this first. Again though, it amounts to expectation. If I don't get 100%, I'll look for where the shows weren't great. I argue a lot against sometimes, because people usually blindly say they love the shows. I went to Huddersfield in 2001, and the show was apauling, Jon completely of his game, with a super predictable set. I wrote a bad (accurate) review of the show, and everybody had a go at me, telling me I didn't know what I'm talking about, and it was the best show ever. What upsets me is that people seem to ignore the downsides (or just not notice them), and concentrate on what was good, which is fine, but if we all by discussing the downsides upped our expectations, then the band woudl have to lift their game. If they didn't recieve instant satisfaction, then they would have to work harder to win the crowd......The crowds are great, but very easily won, and so can sometimes be a little superficial..... I remember shouting for Homebound Train once, and the people around me looked stunned, like as if to say "that's not a Bon Jovi greatest hit!". If the band lifted the live set then the crowds would love it, it's just a risk the band don't seem to take.(at least not on a peremenant basis)

i was reading my original posts from october when everyone had a go at me, and noone bothered reading my posts either since they automatically grouped them with his...

some of mine have some 'genious' observations in them, but noone reads them... not as bad as old days though when i'd post them and everyone would just post smileys and push it to page 3 instead of 5 so it never got read...

as for new ranks:

Complainer of year - (prob KRB)

that has to be one... Zeus, Thor... Greek/mythical gods...
I do read the posts - (Its my job - lol), & am in no way saying u shouldn't post your thoughts on the setlists etc...... Its just after some of the posts I think - why am I going to see them again?? - Oh yeah 'cos I had such a good time last year. Also I think ppl who r on the high from a gig don't really need to be reading about how unispired / poor a gig was by someone who didn't even go.

Still - just my thoughts (& don't think these r aimed solely & exclusively at u - see previous post - or that u should listen to me).

Mike

(Just to clarify - the ranks will be dependant of no. of posts).
Well, all I can say is when I've been on a high from a concert, nobody can pull me down!

If somebody's been to the show, and can tell me where I'm wrong I'd love that. If somebody can say, well why do you need Let It Rock, and Keep The Fiath, and In and Out of Love, when you have Just Older, Bounce, and Say it isn't so! I know people have said the set doesn't matter, the concert was brillaint, and I believe this completely, and I'm not argueing over that. I know that the shows will be great, but again, I think if we were all to write down an ideal set list for the tour, then non of them would look remotely like the set Bon Jovi are playing now, so why are they playing this set! I know for instance, on a Deep Purple discusion board, the fans greatest set would look at least 75% he same as the bands set they tour. I don't know, maybe this is because Bon Jovi have their hand in so many styles, it's more dificult for them to please an audiance with a set, but to be honest I'm not interested in why the sets aren't that apealing to me, all I'm bothered about is that I'm disapointed in the sets.

you've done it again - and if you read my post you'll have seen about 3 references to the difference between a bad gig and an uninspiring setlist...

when I saw DP in Feb last year there were some songs in the setlist that perhaps shouldn't have been played and it was no different to the other shows on the tour in that sense but it was still an amazing show... it doesn't make the setlist any less inspiring/adventurous

well why do they need to worry anyway what anyone else thinks - if they have seen a great gig...

i haven't said any gigs on this tour have been poor quality - there's a difference (i'm repeating myself) bettween adventurous and good, unadventurous and bad... one doesn't mean the other, and the same time one doesn't mean the opposite...
