I mean they're not wrong. Jon's voice has declined massively. We're not talking crap, its just a fact. But I just want to know if they're actually downtuning the songs so he an handle them better or if it's just same tuning, half step down, as always.

I think he simply used the wrong word. The tuning is the same, but he always looks for ways to avoid any potential high notes in these shows. For example, Memory is a very easy low-key song with a semi-high note in the end. But in those solo shows Jon skips that note. During Under Pressure he no longer does the high note after the second verse. Also, the way he sings Wanted and Saturday Night with every purpose to avoid any higher notes. And most importantly, the setlist of these shows only contain songs with the low-register vocals. Every song is carefully selected because in an intimate setting it's much harder for Jon to hide his vocals. That IBTFY is one of the nice exceptions where he stepped out of his comfort zone, and while he clearly struggled, the end result was still almost enjoyable.

EDIT: but yeah, to answer your question, the actual tunings have been (somewhat surprisingly) the same so far; it's how he goes around and sings that have changed.

That's okay, not everyone was 'blessed' with an ear for music ant attention span to notice shortcomings. Sometimes I wish I was one of those Jon's fanboys who could not hear shit and still be satisfied with his performances.

100 percent and agreed and totally valid points. I want to make sure the right terms are being used because misinformation spreads like wildfire. Apart from a handful of the new songs they haven't really been downtuning, which is shocking.

Yeah I did, thanks for clearing it up. Don't want misinformation to spread around but what you and Captain_jovi stated basically was the point I was trying to make.
When talking about an upcoming tour it's much more realistic to use the late 2015 leg as a comparison instead of these acoustic shows where Jon can work around his vocals issues by leaving out many demanding songs he just has to play on a giant stage.

Agreed. There's a huge difference between the setlists he'll do at those shows and the songs he'd be lynched if he didn't do on tour.

At the promo shows, he hasn't even gone for the "It's Allright" during Who Says, although that change doesn't sound too bad. We will probably see a few high notes here or there sung differently or covered by the backing vocals- I don't have too much of a problem with that, and I think he should have made more use of the bands vocals a good while ago.

Yes. During one of the promo shows Jon stated that he'll also join them on tour.
