Right? A cash grab would be no new album, touring for the sake of money. They have an album, the fans have received it pretty favorably. It can't be easy for Jon to go out there in the state his voice is in, but I don't think this pushes it into Cash Grab. WAN was rushed and to me that whole debacle sounded closer to a cash grab but even then, iffy.

It's a cash grab because they're touring even though Jon cannot sing.

The new album stuff is all nice and good, but that material will still only account for somewhere around 4-7 songs per night; with the other 15-20 songs being old ones. And of those, a few will be older and more easy ones from recent albums (LH, WWBTF, Who Says, etc.). So that leaves us with the hits (the reason for most people going to shows) being completely butchered. Not to mention, he will obviously be completely glued to the mic stand with no energy and little crowd engagement. And the setlists will have little variety compared to LH and TC tours; again, because of his vocal limitations.

In other words, Jon always said he'll never be the fat Elvis on stage. He is way past that point and is still going to collect the cheques from casuals that have no idea about the state of his voice.

jon and the guys are really proud of this record, they want to perform it and to reach more people, the prices are high but its always request and demand, calling it a cash grab imo its unfair, itsnot a gh tour they go out on the road after 3-4 years and seeing them live is optional...have u heard bob dylans voice??? the live experience is about the energy, everyone can get a good or mediocre show. they made a truly decent new record, with burning bridges its a whole bunch of new songs and there has been enough time out.

I think he is proud of this record and it is a step in the right direction as I find it enjoyable.

For me, the cash grab comes in where their prices have gone up, but they haven't invested that extra money in the actual show. It's way cheaper to tour with a couple of lights, take away any effects, screens, etc. on stage.
In that sense, I think it's a cash grab, but not in the sense that they are touring just to tour and make money without having anything new to present.

But then again, I know nothing about the cost of setting up a complex stage, I'm just assuming, so I could be totally wrong.

But your cynicism has literally written off an entire tour. You're mad they're touring and haven't seen a single show, seen a single setlist and seen Jon on stage. I kind of get it, based on the promo shows but that ain't the tour. If we're going into the tour and you're already hating it, you've already made up your mind about the state of the band.

Not only the promo shows, but the also the 2015 tour; JBJ-KOS shows and the very end of the WAN tour. It's all been trending negatively for good 4 years and it would take a true miracle for Jon to completely reinvent himself as a live performer and turn it around. Hence, my cynicism is based on an assumption that will not be able to achieve such miracolous comeback to form. The closest he's been to reinvention was in 2008; but even then, the base point (2006-2007) was much higher than where he is now and he's 10 years older with more miles on his not-so-properly trained and maintained vocal chords.

That being said, if I am proven wrong, I would happily create a new thread to apologise and applaud the 2nd coming of Jon.

Fair enough. The quality of the voice, right there with you, I would love to see a change there. The 2015 tour is a moot point if we're arguing about the setlist and Jon moving around because the tour simply hasn't happened yet. Yes, odds are we are going to be given the same album cuts for the millionth tour in the row but I'm hoping hoping hoping we don't. We complain when there's too much tech and video we complain when there's less and say "why now?" there needs to be a middle ground where we just see what happens.
