Hmmm well when it comes to having expectations, it's probably a good thing I live in Perth.

Lol, you have a point.

My wife said right at the start of the tour when I was going on about the setlists and what they were playing that she didn't want to know.

She only cared what they played at the shows she was going to, and she had a point. Then she had none of these expectations and could just enjoy the show for what it was.

That's the problem with over-analyzing things.

My friend is exactly the same. Whenever I said "Bon Jovi played X last night in Y" she'd always start screaming at me. Next tour I'm definately taking a leaf out of her book.

Well the fact that it was my first show and I was just pleasantly surprised that they were even going to be IN MY CITY OF ALL PLACES (!!) probably helped. I'd had a bit of a look at some of the earlier sets, but didn't get myself psyched for anything out of the ordinary. So what I got was a set that could have been better, but a good show and a ****ing awesome experience.

Plus let's not forget that, while Melbourne and Sydney had had good shows, it had only been about a week or so since the debacle of the Japan gigs... and only a couple of months after reading some pretty shit Prudential Centre reviews.

Who did you have in mind, Seb?

I think the point is how you and others have been going on about how utter rubbish the Twickenham shows were - and the fact is they weren't rubbish at all. They were good shows. Of course they could have been better if the band had played a bit longer, but I could say that about every single show I've seen. I'd love them to play longer and do more songs etc, etc. The fact is a 2 and a half hour show is still more than most bands put on - and I'm talking about big bands that I've seen - R.E.M., Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Foo Fighters to name just a few.
I enjoyed reading your posts and agree with what you said. I personally don't care for setlists and feel that too many of us over-analyze their performances.

As for Linkin Park, when I heard that they were playing the MK Bowl I had a feeling they might struggle to pull that one off. I know they perfom well live, but for a gig of that size they have to hold people's attention and they just don't have the songs to do it...not yet anyway.
I was at the Foos gigs at Wembley and the O2 Arena and couldn't help but compare their concerts with Bon Jovi. I'm a massive Jovi fan but (and I know I'll get slated for this) I feel that the promoters could have learnt a thing or two from the Foos and what they achieved on their tour.

Good review.
I’ve seen Jovi every tour since 1990 and I enjoyed every show – apart from MK Bowl in 96 – wet and windy and the wind took the sound away.

What pisses me off is that people on here think they have a god given right to hear the songs they want live.
I’ve read – “I’ll give the show 8/10 because they didn’t play dry county but I heard they did play it the other day!

People on here seem disappointed because the band didn’t play their fav song.
Too many people here seem to want to guess the set list rather than just go there and enjoy it.
For the record I can’t stand WSYCGH, Diamond ring or Capt Crash but the Friday at Twickenham was still a great gig.
The best 2 songs were dry county and always for me.
I have never seen in approx 20 shows, them do STYG or WITW – but I don’t let it bother me or say it isn’t a great show if I don’t get them.

Next time people rather than guess the set list just go there relax and enjoy.

Great review.I too was at Bon Jovi sat night and Linkin Park sunday and loved every bit of both for different reasons ,mind you I did indeed feel a bit cheated with the shortness of Linkin Parks set and the quitness of the crowd especially after Jovi's 2and Half hour show the night before.
Some people on here will never be completely satisfied with Bon Jovi sets because even if they get every song they want there will always be that one more that would have made it the perfect set.

Just to put my personal opinion here also abt the Twickenham shows.

Based on the bands' good history of London shows and on the setlists we've all seen at previous European shows,I was really expecting two great nights at the Twickers shows....

27/6 - 1 st show

It has been a huge dissapointment for me. I was expecting an encore of 4-5 songs, some rarities threw in the main set, I expected some extended version of particular songs (Faith/Saturday Night). The main set was one of the most anticipated/standard sets of the tour with the exception of Dry County. The encore was way too short. Hallelujah had some great vocals by Jon but that was it. It is not a song to end the show with. Generally i was left with the impression that the show was too short and that the band just wanted to finish it off.

28/6 - 2nd day

Some changes were made compared with the 1st day, but with the exception of "I believe" and " blood money" the show did not offer anything special at all. After the dissapointment of the 1st day, I was expecting the band to give a really rocking show. Nothing happened.

To sum up....

They could have played easily much, much better. Both days. With the insertion of songs like Blood on Blood, Raise yr hands, Wild in the Streets, Lay yr hands, Livin in Sin, Wild is The Wind, Hey God, These Days and a couple of different covers ( we don't have to hear twist and shout for 2 days), the shows could have been much much better and memorable. Also they could give us some extended versions of their own songs faith/jungle screams, saturday night/ext bridge, BTBMB with some na na's at the end or even Bad Medicine with a medley... They just played two absolutely ordinary shows. Just try to compare them with the two nights of M.K at the hand tour...

Im not sure why Twickenham 1 started late, maybe Biffy Clyro were running amok naked backstage, but that may have kabooshed any rarites that may have occurred. Come 8 o clock, they were nowhere near ready, which was strange after all the other English gigs were starting at 8 with metronomic precision (if anything I thought Bristol would start late due to the traffic problems but even that went to time).

Both Twickenham gigs were really good, although I thought the Manchester gig was the best of the English dates, both Twickers nights were good, although I felt the crowd for Night 2 was better and I enjoyed that night more having more of a sing song with the people around us and screaming way to much for Richie!!

For me personally every gig was good in its own way- I went with different people to each so it was good to have them experience what I have been for years! Although Bristol was a tad disappointing, although that wasnt just the gig for me, I thought the stadium and organisation was extremely poor, yet even that got Lie To Me, a song has hasnt been played for the best part of 13 years. Whilst some people were expecting rarity central, I was happy that each gig had it own moments to make each own special, and that my friends and family now have a better appreciation of Bon Jovi for it!

I was there for MK the `1st night and to be honest didn't think it was that great at all - sure they played Livin In Sin, but other than that there was nothing special, and I didn't think the performance was that spectacular either.
