An average Bon Jovi show is still great for the average concert goer. You might get a Hull equivalent, you're right, but that's life, shit happens, it's not a Bon Jovi feature like you all like to make it look.

Exactly. That's my point. When everybody's saying that a setlist is great, you aren't there telling people "you haven't been to the show, it might still have been mediocre". It's only when people aren't satisfied that some people here (including you) always feel the need to defend the band. It's getting old.
But yeah, otherwise I respect your opinion. The setlist doesn't say everything about the show, but for me - and a lot of other people - it's still an extremely important part of the experience. A GREAT setlist can turn a good show into pure magic. So even if I haven't been to the show, I will continue to discuss the setlist.
And I hope that you can respect that.

If the band are enjoying the setlist then the crowd will enjoy the band.

I'm sure in Europe we'll get a few surprises.
This is a message board for the fans though. This is where the geeky knowledge and the strong opinions kick in. When the band plays a lousy encore, some people here will be very judgemental and critical.
Even if there aren't any nazi flags involved, people have the right to become upset. And some people are going to a lot of shows in Europe and are most likely hoping for better sets than this one, hence the negativity.

It's just the climate around here, and I like it because it shows that people still care. Otherwise we would'nt be here. If you want to hang around, you have to live with it.

Y'know, I'm with Captain Crash where I think the band gets ripped maybe a bit too often here, sometimes even unnecessarily, but I think you've made a great point.

It does show you still care. Hell, even Born To Run must still care...lol.

And I suppose better a concerned fan than no fan at all right?

The only thing I can say on this is thinking of the dozen or so shows I've ever been to, I can't recall many of them with that much different in the set, except the first show I went to, which was the These Days tour in 96. Then I got Always, It's Hard Letting You Go, All I Want Is Everything, These Days, plus the usual suspects in the set. The only other one was Living In Sin at MK, and I thought that was an average show (especially compared to the Glasgow one) - but every other show I've been to has had me absolutely blown away, no matter what was in the set.

Hell, of course, no one is saying the show could have been mediocre when somebody says the setlist was great. It's true but it's rather pointless on a BON JOVI board.
I don't mind people disliking setlists or encores, but I do mind people stating it like pathetic whiners wo didn't get the present they asked for from Santa Claus and therefore yelling out Santa is a fat bastard full of shit.

No one hinders you from discussing the setlist, but whenever I feel the MANNER of criticism is insulting and over the top I will have my say as well.

I mean, just look at this thread. They play in New Zealand the first time in.. what.. over a decade and this thread is full of whining. And the one person that was actually there very much enjoyed the show. It's pathetic really.

The reason for this board's reputation is not it is telling the truth. It's because it is unobjectively rude with its criticism. And THAT no one wants to hear.

And yet everyone has to tell me "you haven't been to the show, it might have been great" when I say that the setlist is mediocre. It's the exact same thing. People must be allowed to discuss the setlist - and the setlist only - if they want to. We're all adults.

Okay, that's not my take on things. If someone thinks that the encore sucks, then so be it. If someone thinks that the encore is great, then so be it. It's all a matter of opinion. My point is that people get annoyed here when they think that a member is overly negative, but from where I am standing the majority seems to be overly POSITIVE and most of all PROTECTIVE of the band.
And they haven't been to the show either so that kind of behaviour shouldn't be more accepted, but yet it is.

Fine by me, this is a message board.

Sure if they haven't seen the band for ages they are satisfied with whatever they are playing. In Europe it is different. They tour there everytime and if such a bad setlist as in NZ is played people will go home very very disappointed. Lucky me who is not going to one single concert!
As they European tour comes nearer and nearer I see a turning point in many people's views here. I told you before how this is going to be and you didn't want to believe me!!!
So there you have it!
Idiot, you don't get it.

Please, show me one post of mine where I stated the setlist was amazing or that they have never been so good or anything to that extent. Please!

I gladly say it again for the idiots. It's not the criticism I go against, it's the manner how it is put across. Only because you dislike things the front man is not "full of shit" or "the band should R.I.P" or even "people will go home very very disappointed". You know perfectly well it's not true, people won't leave, yet you need to say it, because you, personnally, are unhappy with what you get. And that is whining. Nothing more, nothing less.

Wait until after the European shows. I predict the end of the band!!!you might be the only one who is still praising even when they are long forgotten.
It's funny how you became sensible for name-calling after your posts got deleted. Proves me nothing but right.

Were you able to read (and understand) anything other than "idiot" and "whiner" in my previous post?
