This is really just to bounce this thread back to the first page for this forum, but also to keep it alive with a bit of speculation about when the Dublin show will be. (This is on the assumption that there was some substance to whatever was said on the radio, and that the 2008 Irish show will be in Croke Park. Given that some of the UK venues are slightly unexpected, I'd love it if BJ scheduled a show in my native Northern Ireland, but I doubt it somehow. The lack of a proper and permanent stadium-sized venue really counts against us here, so there'll be one concert, and it'll be in Dublin.)

So will it be in May, late June or even July? For some reason my instincts tell me July. Celine Dion will be 'rocking' Croke Park on Friday 30th May 2008, so there's one date out of commission straight away. A few weeks back, I emailed Croke Park with a speculative enquiry about concerts in 2008, which they unsurprisingly ignored! As is well known, the venue can host up to three non-sporting events per year, and apart from the Bon Jovi rumour, I've heard no other whispers for 2008, even on the usually well-informed scalper 'agencies' websites.

Ya Croke Park have a 3 non sporting event policy alright and as you said with Celine Dijon playing one ,there is a strong rumour that Westlife will be doing a date there too.If that is true it only leaves one date open .
Dont think they would play in Slane as Green Day are touring next year too and as they were asked 2 years ago and couldnt do it ,id say that this years slot is prob for them.
Just wish they would announce a date .

Oh yeah Westlife are playing there! And Celine Dion. Hope Jovi get that last date.
Although I would love to go up North to see them.

I dont think it will be July though. Im thinking late May, early June

Westlife and Celine Dion both playing Croke Park next year?! We can only pray that Bon Jovi swiftly confirm a date there soon in order to bring some proper entertainment back to the venue! (According to the apparently well informed Sebastiaan, the Dublin show will be June 8th, though there's no independent confirmation yet.)

June 8th is a Sunday which is kinda sucky.
Plus isnt Sunday when all the GAA matches and stuff are on?
Or is there any GAA stuff on in June?

Irishshin, yes, June 8th is indeed a Sunday, which I agree isn't the best day for a concert. But, Westlife will be performing at Croke Park on a Sunday too - June 1st (as stated variously in the Irish media, including by the group themselves on TV). Now, there's something there that struck me as a little odd. Celine Dion's concert is confirmed for Friday 30th May, and then Westlife's show is only two days later...and the rumoured date for a Bon Jovi concert is a mere week later. I know that large-scale concerts at Croke Park are desperately unpopular with the local residents for obvious reasons, so perhaps the GAA are truncating their three non-sporting events as some sort of placatory gesture?

As for sporting events themselves, my knowledge of this is fairly limited, but I do know that Croke Park isn't actually used that much (even now that the GAA allow football and rugby to be played there). So I'd say that the stadium would be available for a Bon Jovi concert on Sunday 8th June 08. Indeed, if Sebastiaan's itinerary is correct...

22-05-2008 Gelsenkirchen, Germany
24-05-2008 Frankfurt, Germany
25-05-2008 Leipzig, Germany
28-05-2008 Hamburg, Germany
29-05-2008 Stuttgart, Germany
01-06-2008 Barcelona, Spain
02-06-2008 Lisboa, Portugal
04-06-2008 Ebreichsdorf, Austria
06-06-2008 Munich, Germany
08-06-2008 Dublin, Ireland
11-06-2008 Southhampton, UK
13-06-2008 Amsterdam, The Netherlands
14-06-2008 Brussel, Belgium
16-06-2008 Helsinki, Finland
17-06-2008 Randers, Denmark
19-06-2008 Trondheim, Norway
21-06-2008 Glasgow, UK
22-06-2008 Manchester, UK
24-06-2008 Coventry, UK
25-06-2008 Bristol, UK
27-06-2008 London, UK

...then it seems that the band want to play a lot of shows in a short space of time.
