As much as I hope that I'm wrong I'd bet it'll be a setlist full of hits and the rarest thing you'd get is Saturday Night or Always.
Please explain why there will only be 2% die-hard fans? There were over 5,000 people in line when 9:00 am hit at Yankee Stadium and the ones I were talking to all knew what they were talking about. "Casual" fans wouldn't be out at 3 in the morning to get Bon Jovi tickets to a show at Central Park. I mean that's just common sense.

I hope you're wrong too.

Quite simply.....I cheat
I take notes and write the review as soon after the show as possible.
sometimes I use A/V reference materials to help ( i draw stick figures

hometownboy, crushgen 24/88 , shaz, kenobi, jjx23, deb, milomom, thanks for your kind words

Kathleen - if I paid to see this show 12 times on a tour, I would be pissed off at least 10 times, but we went we saw we enjoyed and in these days of youtube if something special happens in an igloo on a frozen tundra we will probably see it in a few days anyway

Sorry to everyone for the black on grey - i typed the review in WORD and when I pasted it here that is how it turned out and I couldn't figure how to change it.

absol.lution - I had a four hour drive before thes how plus three+ hours there at the venue and almost 5 hour drive back home, so I really tried to time it properly as I really get sick when I get low, I just shot my stomach in the car before we went in and ate shortly after

jjx23 - you are right about the HAND giants shows, but that was more an expection thatn rule for the tour, I've been to 4 giants shows and looking back it's almost my least favorite venue (whole new can of worms).
I bet Central Park will get a few rarities and a homage to simon and garfunl=kle seems likely, I am pretty sure MSG will be more cookie cutter with a few rare songs each night that will not make the DVD unless they are flawless in performance.
Being a media event is what makes these more likely to be greatest hits shows in my opinion, the media is who will review teh shows and influence the opinions of all the people who aren't there and the weak minds of some of those who attend. The media hates rarities, they are teh ultimate casual fan they want hits and lots of em, the media crucified Jon across the board for playing a ****in' brilliant Homebound Train in Grand Rapids. Everybody standing in line for tickets thinks they are a diehard, but the tickets are free to CP so being in line at 2AM is more likely to mean you are unemployed thatn a die hard (kidding, don't freak out)
honestly though offer $100 to the 10 people in front of you and the 10 people in line behind you if they can recite the chorus to stick to your guns and you won't pay out once. A real diehard remembers the dates of al the shows they have seen and there are at least 50 of em, a real die hard has a copy of Jon's 1986 lingerie order in a 6' tall stack of scrapbooks in a closet, a real diehard - but I digress
I really think CP will have a more rare setlist than the 2 MSGs, but I may have been wrong about something in the past before
link to old reviews - http://www.bonjovimuseum.com/main/index1.html

Deb - maybe next tour Julie and I will go overseas for a show, that would be fun (if we pick the right show of course)

Beavoid - I thought you liked the show? for ME it is overdose, I liked this show better than I expected plain and simple.
I'm pretty sure CP is not going to be broadcast.
Where were your seats? the acoustics in an arena definately have some dead spots wherethe sound can be mushy, usually the side balconies and the floor towards teh front but not right at the stage.

Dave
Thanks for the quick reply! Good morning as well. I am just trying to make the time go by faster. It's only a few days away and I want the date to be here. I understand what you are saying about the media, they are very critical. As a writer, I receive a lot of constructive criticism, both good and bad, but that's the way it is. I am one of the top writers on Associated Content and receiving the criticism urges me to just blurt out something nasty to the people who might have a different opinion on one of my stories, etc, but ya just have to learn how to keep it to yourself. When it comes to music, it's not fair that the media criticizes Bon Jovi on what songs they sing. It really is unfortunate because the die-hard fans that would like to hear a rare song here and there are s*it out of luck.

Of course a concert is going to be mostly hits, it's those songs that made the band, but if we get some rarities, I'll be so happy. I know the show is going to be explosive, and the atmosphere is going to be very loud, but I wouldn't have minded them ending at Giant's Stadium either, or both for that matter.

Getting into the topic of Giant's Stadium, it's you least favorite venue!? Wow.. That's shocking. I suppose it wouldn't be the greatest for everyone because of the sound, but that's pretty similar at any outdoor venue with no cover over it (like an amphitheater), but the crowd is surely loud at Giant's Stadium. MSG is probably one of the best places to watch a concert, the acoustics are excellent, and there really is not one bad seat there. This is the same in most arena venues.

Again, thanks for your quick reply.

Regards,

Jason F.

Haha, I took all that into consideration only after I'd posted.

Think about it this way, if there's 20,000 DIE HARD (as in knows album tracks and such) fans, which is probably over estimating it, that still leaves 40,000 who fall more on the casual side.
And FTR, I can think of several artists (Springsteen, U2, Rolling Stones) that I 'm no a SUPER DIE-HARD fan of, yet would wait on line that early for.

Yeah, I was going to say something like that. But even the fans that don't have Bon Jovi posters all up in their room, listen to them everyday, fantasize about them all the time, even some of them who might not be classified as a die-hard fan (although, I don't have Bon Jovi posters up on my wall, nor do I fantasize about them), but I am a die-hard fan. Someone classified someone as a die-hard in that manner, which was odd because I doubt that's the case.

I classify a die-hard fan to be someone who follows the band, knows the words to MOST or all of their songs, etc. Simple terms. I just think that there are going to be more people at the CP concert that actually know the words to the songs than not. But we'll see.

Regards,

Jason F.

That know the words to the hits.
I'm not trying to belittle anyone either, as they can like whatever they want to like. But, there are people (especially in this age of the download) who can have 25/30 BJ songs that they know by heart, have seen them 8 times since 2000, and yet have no idea about most of the album tracks. Especially ones from KTF or TD, since they're almost never played stateside. Believe me, I hope I'm wrong. I'd love nothing more then for the band to These Days, or I Believe, or Hey God, etc. at Central Park. I just don't think it'll happen.

Wow, very insightful! I have to admit that those around me at the Yankees Stadium line wouldn't be able to recite the chorus. I was there at 5:30 am (employed and all).

Why not These Days? I heard it in Newark when I went on the 28th. I also heard Blood on Blood, Livin' in Sin, Someday I'll Be Saturday Night, Right Side of Wrong, Bells of Freedom, Wild in the Streets, etc. These Days was played a few times in Newark alone. I am sure they were played elsewhere too.

Let's just hope.

Jason F.
