Sure Maiden is a different kinda music but it is also way harder to sing than the average BJ song (even those that are consodered "difficult"). On the other hand Dickinson is IMHO the only singer that sings better now than he did in the 80's. Just compare the "Flight 666" DVD with the Long Beach 1985 show, where he completely ruins "Aces High". In 2008 when I saw em he sang it perfect! And Maiden are also not ashamed of doing a retro tour like the last one. The tour b4 they played the whole last album and only a few classics and pple complained. Next tour was ONLY oldies. WIsh BJ did the same

Dickinson sings fine, but even he can't hit all the high notes. Just listen to Run To The Hills and compare it to recent live versions. Granted, it's very high (I think it goes to high D), but still. Dickinson can sing higher than Jon (who can't?), but his voice has deteriorated as well. And yes, I've seen Maiden live a few years back, so I know it.

Seen Maiden live in Prague in 2008 on the last leg of the EUropean tour and Dickinsons voice seemed strong - he definetely sings almost as good as on record!

Yes, as strong, but not as high.

This doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. But yay for those in a hurry to be old and stuck pretending it's another era forcing a band to be their personal nostalgia machine, which kills any creativity pretty quick.

I went through this with KISS and Def Leppard for the exact same reason, fans who just wanted to live in the past. I'm in no hurry for Bon Jovi to stop and that is exactly why I have no problem with Jon's approach. I certainly am open to them playing anything out of their catalog in the set, but I'd be happy if it were just a handful of back catalog stuff with the entire new album played.

In the Maiden case it was obivously different: They saw that there were LOADS of new and young fans in the audience during the last tours where they played their newer stuff. SO with this last tour they treid to recreate the magic of the 1985 tour for those who could not be there because of their age. And it worked. No nostalgia show like Lep or Kiss at all (and I love Lep and Kiss too!!!)

That makes sense. I imagine they plan to revert to forward-thinking from here on out?

I wish KISS had after the first Reunion tour, though financially it made no sense to.
