but anyway...

what is so great about the europe shows - i am genuinely asking here - the setlists are exactly the same...i havent even noticed ONE song they added that wasnt played in the states...

i think we are so conditioned that we think if they play Always or These Days its like a carnvial celebration - and those songs they have played for years...

in all seriousness, what is going on that makes the europe shows so great...

is it nostalgia for the europe shows of the past or do they just sound amazing and are putting out more energy?>

what am i missing? and hopefully looking forward to at msg?
Have you been here the past month or so?

The fact that the sets are changing every show, both in order and in songs.
Not one of the shows has been similar to one of the others.
And, both from Youtube videos and those who've attended concerts, the band seems to on total fire in their playing and Jon's vocals.
(BTW Original Bed of Roses, Can't Help Falling In Love With You, Drift Away, Rockin' All Over The World (Full version), Glory Days and Mercy in the Sleep medley all hadn't been played in the States)
Thx brian,

As far as the crowes - again i was kinda just making a point but Chris had made some seperate albums as has rich and they whip those songs out as well as tons of bsides so they have a very rich pool to draw from which is constantly changing...they work new songs out live and its just more raw...just like pearl jam...

its funny guess i like the spirit of the roots bands and the jam bands kinda but LOVE the jovi music...now if the two combined ooh la la...

i appreciate the comments - cool - im excited that they are fire - its great to change the order of the setlist but i guess im from a diff camp on setlists...

i actually would have liked to hear bobby sing just cause its different!

but yeah in answer to wrath - i dont live hear all the time so im a little behind on all the hubub abt the europe dates - i hope it continues the trend back to good ol us of a!

see ya at msg

and i love your highlight of night 9 - THAT was AWESOME

Well we got 40 songs during those 2 shows at Emirates on Friday/Saturday! That's what I call a varied setlist!

Yeah, maybe i am being too hardcore - it just seems to be the SAME pool of songs all the time...playing them in a different order isnt really what i am getting at...

It makes all the bootlegs and collecting and purchasing a bit staler than maybe it should be...

That being said i am a spoiled NJ resident who gets to see them all the time so i can understand how your shows rocked...

Glad you enjoyed them - as ive said they are the best band in the world...just like to see more of it !

I think them reintroducing songs this tour that they haven't played for years (original Bed Of Roses and Always, Drift Away, Hey God, One Wild Night, Blood Money), playing songs they've never played live before that aren't new songs (Open All Night), and playing some songs that have only be played a few times before (Garageland, Miss Fourth Of July) is pretty impressive, and not exactly them sticking to the same pool of songs.

They're not and never have been the kind of band to play almost all of their songs every once in a while, since the very beginning they've tended mainly to focus on 5 - 7 songs from each album, which brings the amount of songs they're now likely to play quite a bit smaller than 125 .... possibly more around 100 or so. And 65 out of those 100, quite a few of which they probably won't have played or even thought about for years, ain't so bad IMO

I dont disagree...but those last few they only play once or so and i dont know the breakdown but i dont think they regularly play 65 songs...itll be interesting when somebody compiles that at the end of the tour...

and youre right - theyve always been this way...so it is consistent...and this is really my only issue with the band - well that and the recent prices/fan club, but i think they could smoke even better, and actually increase sales of old and rare tracks following a different model, so in hopes they ever consider it, ill keep my candle lit

peace
