Aloha !
As Thierry was saying Mike McRock and letitrock are getting pretty ignorant with the fact that they keep comparing Bon Jovi to Deep Purple. If I would always be comparing Bon Jovi to Oasis it wouldn't make sense too.

Deep Purple are bigger now than they were in the 70's, when they were at their 'biggest'. Also, Deep Purple havn't sold out to keep in the charts, or to make themselves a big band.

No, Deep Purple isn't at their biggest now. For you maybe, but not for the major crowd. And when I ask my mom and dad about Deep Purple they say Smoke On The Water, they won't say a song from the nineties or so. It's the same as saying that Bon Jovi was at their biggest in the eighties.
When Bon Jovi made Slippery they wanted to be the biggest band in the world. That you love Prayer more then It's My Life is just a matter of taste. both are songs made to be big hits.

Find me more than 4 songs on Slippery and New Jersey that are pop orientated.... They're rock albums, and it's the rock songs that are remembered. Unfortuanetly, there are no rock songs on Bounce or Crush to remeber those albums by!

So you think people will not remember One Wild Night or It's My Life ? Yes they will, the same as for Everyday. Everyday and It's My Life might be poppy songs, but they are big anthems, and that's why people remember Bon Jovi. For their anthems. Wanted Dead Or Alive, It's My Life, both are big anthems. Bon Jovi will not be remembered for their rock songs, Bon Jovi will be remembered as a pretty good rock band who can make good sing along rock songs.
