I've heard pretty much the entire Southside Johnny discography and have yet to find 1 remarkable thing he does. He's good for the occasional riff here and there but when it comes to being a good player he's low on the list. Anyone can teach himself how to play riffs others have played before, it's pretty much the easiest thing to do.

I completely agree ... I doubt that Jon ever said to him - "Bobby, you're going to get a solo ... but don't make it too good, otherwise people will start paying to much attention on you" ... He just can't make it ... Take a look at his solo on Any other day live from the LH concert: he was given a chance to shine and only managed to play 2 or 3 notes, just like he does on In these arms ...
IMO, leave him there to be a rhythm player (even though he screwed up on Dry County in Brussels 2008, when he completely lost the rhythm) , but keep him away from any solo.
