Sorry Jonty but I have to agree...your review is slightly laughable if not shocking! I was in the stands because had my little 6 year old boy with me and we heard everything fine and the crowd were in great spirits from what we could see (which was the whole arena!) ....really no idea how you can come up with such a bad review of night 1...baffles me! And I am not afraid to criticise the band, not for one minute....but I really thought night 1 was right up there with their best shows in Ireland!

Fair point re sitting in stand. We had the parents along for their first show so standing wasn't an option - ironic since we stood the whole show. Dads a drummer though and picked up on it all right away. Got to say was in the stands at Munich 2/3 back and the sound was great bar the BOR moment. Again I will say I'm not criticising the band, jon didn't sing bad vocals and Richie didn't muck up the solos, in fact the exact opposite, but I am allowed the opinion about the show where I was, having paid top bill for the tickets, so I should expect to hear my favourite band properly rather than thinking they are air guitaring every so often. Put it this way, I would have thought it should have been sorted sooner. The positive from it is that it proves it's live. That's what I thought in Munich too as the first time in 14 shows they play me BOR I have jon spitting and 1 2ing into the mic during it! If that was cheryl cole crap she would have kept miming!! You will note my review was as positive as everyone else once the sound was sorted from where I was. Lot of people have said the sound was a lot better on the second night so maybe they figured it out.

my major issue was that it was not loud enough and after speaking with someone it was most likely down to a decible limit being in place since Aiken got heavily fined for Springsteen's last visit to the Rds(now that was loud)

I was at Bruce's last show in The RDS, if anything Bon Jovi were louder.

But I have to say most gigs these days have tame sound, I was up front for both shows, but if I were further back or in the stands it may have been a bit too low.

It's all health and safety nonsense, fuck the EU.

I have to agree it didn't seem nearly as loud as it usually does or as we were expecting it to be, especially when I had been handed ear plugs several times for my little boy! He put them in but we soon realised he didn't really need them! I think he was a little disappointed that it wasn't louder! My only other gripe about night 1 would be the silly steward annoying me constantly by telling me my little boy could not stand up on his seat to watch it for health and safety reasons....ridiculous! I had a firm hold of him all night and had he not stood on the seat he would have seen nothing cos everyone was on their feet! Whole reason for getting seats that night was so he would have a better view! She suggested we move down to the bottom row of seats where he would most definitely see nothing at all while all this time the GC was only half full with lots of space at the back of it! I wasn't quick enough...should have suggested we be allowed stand in back of GC! Still for his first concert he had a blast, sang his little heart out and can't wait to see BJ again!

Glad he had a great time!! Always good to see the next generation of fans there!!! Interesting you said about the space at back of GC. I think that was health n safety again to allow GA to escape! I had forgotten to mention that in my review as we sat just beside it and it was weird having that space there. Certainly wasn't there in munich but then the laws same different over there. Stewards kept trying to split drunken idiots in the crowd up in our section and putting them in empty seats which was causing a lot of hassle! Personally they should have been bucked out, can't understand why you buy tickets for a gig then get so drunk you don't see it!! Lol!!

This is correct. At the 3rd MSG show the sound went out completely and nobody in the band had any idea something was wrong. They sounded fine to themselves. Those IEMs may make for good stage communication but they sure make for lousy communication with the audience.

He gets everything from in ear monitors and doesn't hear much crowd participation at all, and neither hears at how awful it can be unless at quiet times he hears a lot of echo like in Frankfurt, meaning his mike picking up on it. There's no such thing as him not hearing a guitar, and what we hear coming out of the PA is not what the band hear on their in ear monitors. This is the fourth show this tour where there apparantly were sound issues. 3 times a failing PA and now apparantly this.

You can't have been too far from where we were sat then Jonty!! We were in Block G...great view of the stage but that huge gap in GC bothered me...looked really bad, especially in photos I took...have had to zoom in to block out that gap! Yes, it is nice to see the next generation get into it all I was only sorry they don't still do those Tshirts they used to that actually had The Next Generation written on them...their choice of tshirts for younger fans was awful...namely one white tshirt with pinks and bright blues, a pic of a globe and hardly know it was a BJ shirt at all...and only in youth sizes ie teens....my son was NOT impressed and so ended up getting a men's shirt that he will be a v long time growing in to gievn it was down to his knees!!Made for some fun photos tho!

I was on the pitch, about mid way, slightly to the left of the stage and I couldnt hear Richie at all for 80% of the show. Neither could the people around me, my gf included so it wasnt just my own hearing. They mostly sorted the sound out by the last few songs but for the entire first half I couldnt hear the guy at all. Worst sound I ever heard at a gig in my life.

4th time hearing them live and still havent got Lay Your Hands On Me
