Elite Ticket Shop-Liquidation

Last November I bought 2 'front third seated' tickets for the Ashton Gate concert from a company called Elite Ticket Shop.
Yesterday, I received a letter in the post informing me the company have gone into liquidation and it is very unlikely that I will receive my tickets or be able to get a refund.
It turns out that they only set up the company in September last year and they sold loads of tickets, not just for Bon Jovi but other artists aswell, now everyone who has bought from them has lost their money & tickets.
I was wondering if anyone else on here bought tickets from them?!!

I haven't but i've just been reading on Backstage someone bought some Manchester tickets and has recieved the exact info you have.

Am I the only one who would only use a site like Ticketmaster, or none at all? I know that people go on about how they really really want to see an artist, and end up on eBay looking for tickets and small companies like this - I think that if you risk trying that, you should expect to be disappointed when you get ripped off.

Well I suppose it depends on how badly you want to go to the concert. I was desperate to go to the o2 and took a risk on ebay which thankfully worked out, but although I would have been angry and upset, I knew it would have been my fault for doing it. Since then I have bought tickets from the official people and feel much better. But I do feel for people as its not nice, especially when you lose both money and tickets. But, thats the risk you take.

Can't anyone take Legal Action against these small companies once these things happen?

Or did it state in the T&C that in the event of liquidisation, no refund is available?

Even Ebay is safer than these sort of ticket shops as you may have at least some form of protection from Paypal (Even though they are pretty shite, there is a hope). Better still use Credit Cards and have it refunded that way if it all goes tits up.

TM, See, Ticketline are all reputable and to be honest, apart from Gold Circle at Bristol (at first) tickets havent really been that hard to come by for this tour to justify using dodgy websites.

I stupidly booked tickets for the first wembley show through a supposedly good website paid naturally more money for the tickets and like yourselves got a letter through saying they have gone into liquidation (cant remember the name of the company) it was one of the first ones that came up on google and i paid i think £127.00 per ticket plus fees for GC Wembley night 1, thought had to be there and stupidly didnt take up the presale.

I received letters and emails from the company advising that somebody like Mastercard or Visa were sorting out the liquidation and we got nearer and nearer the time and got no info out of the company. Anyway i had fortunatley paid on a credit card and was told that if they cannot give me tickets they would refund me the money in full, its something i believe every credit card company does to cover for eventuallitys like that. It turned out in the end that the show was moved from Wembley to Milton Keynes so didnt fancy paying all that money for MK and i had already bought real tickets for Wembley night 2 from Seetickets or Ticketmaster, so about 2days before the show was due ,thinking only option was to get money back, they did offer me tickets for MK1. As mentioned above i didnt want to pay all that money for MK so managed to get £250 back from the Card Company.

Bottom Line is, i Believe if you have paid on a credit card there is a good chance that you will get the cash back, i would call your credit card operator and tell them what has happened. they will then sort it out on your behalf and you should get the money back. You will lose tickets though but as someone mentioned you maybe able to get some on ebay or seetickets or ticketmaster with the money you will get back.

since doing that i have learnt my lesson and grab the tickets on presale as and when they are available. no booking through dodgy websites

Yes, I bought 2 VIP tickets for the Celine Dion concert 2/05/08. Like you I received notification that the company has gone in to liquidation. If the tickets had been purchased with the credit card I would have been protected by the Consumer Credit Act 1975, ie: I could have claimed the money back from the credit card company. As Elite ticket Shop were in dispute with Google (do not know why) my money was returned to my account, like an idiot I then sent a cheque for £380 to elite shop. This is not protected by the credit company. I have been advised by the credit card company that there is still a possible way of getting my money back. I am seeking legal advice on this matter and will update you if I am going to be in luck. Celine...Will have to wait for another time I guess.

To be fair, The official MEN site directed us to Elite Ticket shop. Back in December I knew nothing of a problem with Elite Ticket Shop, as we were directed to their site I assumed (wrongly) that they were a reptuable company. Live and learn I guess
