I don't get people wanting to beat traffic. I usually pay a lot for my tickets and I'm not going to leave one second before I have to.

I also don't drink beer (or much else during the show) so I don't have to leave for the bathroom and miss any of the music. I guess I'm a hardcore case.

I was just watching the Led Zepplin DVD from last December's show (a bootleg) and you could see lots of people leaving towards the end of the show - but before it was over. Those guys haven't played together for 30 years and people are leaving EARLY? Not bloody likely in my case LOL.

I'm with you Kathleen. I won't drink anything for fear of having to pee and once those lights go out, I ain't leaving till they kick me out of there. I pay too much for tickets and I won't miss 1 minute of a Bon Jovi concert. I saw people leaving the Pru Center during the encore to beat the traffic. Are they freakin nuts? I guess they're not die hard fans.:

Im kinda in between on it. I love the longer sets, I just have a problem with the encore at most of the shows being the same. The two I've been to have both been Saturday and Wanted for the encore. I'm praying that they do Hallelujah in Vegas, I'd die if they did that.

One more song in the encore - and a better encore (especially the last song) - would do it for me. Some nice surprises are always welcome too of course.

Mmmm, i agree that the problem is that the main set is too long and the encore is too short. For example the first Sydney show had a main set that was 24 songs long, i think thats the most songs they have ever done in a main set.

If they cut the main set down to about 20 songs, then it would seem that you get a better encore.

For example; Sydney 22/01/08 could have been

GREAT BALLS OF FIRE
YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME
WILD IN THE STREETS
LOST HIGHWAY
RUNAWAY
SUMMERTIME
STORY OF MY LIFE
IN THESE ARMS
WHOLE LOTTA LEAVIN'
BORN TO BE MY BABY
WE GOT IT GOIN ON
BAD MEDICINE ~ SHOUT
I'LL BE THERE FOR YOU (RICHIE ON LEAD VOCALS)
SOMEDAY I'LL BE SATURDAY NIGHT (ACOUSTIC)
KNOCKING ON HEAVENS DOOR (ACOUSTIC)
BLAZE OF GLORY
KEEP THE FAITH
I'LL SLEEP WHEN I'M DEAD ~ JUMPIN JACK FLASH
WHO SAYS YOU CAN'T GO HOME
LIVIN' ON A PRAYER

HAVE A NICE DAY
BLOOD ON BLOOD
IT'S MY LIFE
I LOVE THIS TOWN
WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE
NEVER SAY GOODBYE (ACOUSTIC)

Rather Than

GREAT BALLS OF FIRE
BAD NAME
WILD IN THE STREETS
LOST HIGHWAY
RUNAWAY
SUMMERTIME
STORY OF MY LIFE
IN THESE ARMS

I'd call it common sense. Except that I don't do it because of the money I spent, I just don't want to miss a thing. Money would be a more relevant reason if I'd go to as many shows as you are.

I know what you mean, I always make sure I take my car to gigs instead of having to rely on public transport, no way am I missing anything!!!

Don't think i've ever left a gig early in my life!

Made the mistake of going to the toilet during the gig when I went to see Feeder, missed one of my favourite songs! Never again lol.

Me and my girlfriend went to see Robbie Williams in 2006, we got there mega early and I think we went almost 10 hours without anything cos we were right at the very front and didn't want to lose our place! Worth it though!!

Same here. I've only been to 1 show before and I didn't want to miss any of it either so made sure to only get 1 drink and I went to use the toilet when the opening acts were on, and I'll do the same this time. I do the same when I go to the cinema - why go to see something and then miss part of it for needing a piss?

That's probably because you don't have a long drive home. I used to live 3 hours away from places that rock bands played in. Concerts don't always happen Friday/Saturday night either and I gotta work. Furthermore, some venues that I went to had really bad traffic, on occasions, I couldn't move my car out of the parking lot for 2 hours. Add that to 3 hours drive and it's not so much fun anymore.

I don't drink beer during shows either (mainly because I had to drive for quite a bit) but if I gotta pee, I gotta pee. Holding your pee is not good for your health. Yes, there's medical explanation for it!

Heh, when I saw Gun's N' Roses in 2006 twice, because of Axl's lateness, I ended up not getting home til 4:30am either time because most of the public transport had stopped running. The second time I had to get up at 6am to get a coach to go meet my parents on holiday ... needless to say, I didn't bother sleeping that night, but don't really remember a whole lot of the coach ride due to being fast asleep!

I have a system for drinks that usually works pretty well too, usually do most of it earlier on, go pee before the main support act, then stay put from then onwards. Usually works!
