The same in I think 2001 when BJ.com, Backstage and the local ticket seller in Braunschweig/Germany promoted a show in Braunschweig which also got cancelled. But here also tickets never went on sale.
Don't forget about Richie's SA tour. He cancelled it too...

But talking about BJ, they cancelled their Rock In Rio show, instead of RiR Jon did his vampires movie.
The RiR manager said that Bon Jovi already had signed a contract and after that he convenced Axl Rose to headline the event.

I know -- makes me sad just thinking about it. But, if that's one of the things that helped convince Richie that he needed help, then it was worth it. There's no doubt he's a different guy these days. I readily admit to having no real musical knowledge, but I think he once again sounds great. And I hope he's having as much fun as it appears.

In 1992/93 Backstage published a list of potential tour dates that included Biloxi, Mississippi, (I even remember that they misspelled "Mississippi") and other cities in the area, but those shows never even went on sale. So were they cancelled or did they just not pan out? The only explanation I ever heard--and have no idea if it's true--was that there was an illness in Jon's family and they postponed starting that tour.

I seem to remember a show In Russia that the band cancelled because of the Chernobyl meltdown. Honestly though, I can't remember when a signed and sealed show got canceled, even when they maybe should have, ie nights when Jon was so sick and or hurt he should have just stayed in bed. Both nights in Washington DC on the HAND tour come to mind or the Mohegan show during HAND when JOn's throat was swiss cheese or back in the day during the SWW tour when Jon was puking in a garbage can 10 minutes before show time and truthfully couldn't sing a word.

This was squeezed in at the end of the Europe HAND tour after the 2 MK dates. I just don't think the band (Jon) wanted to be there. From what I remember it was turn up, get through the show and bugger off. Not any feeling for the fans who shelled out hard earned cash.

I always thought it a strange choice though to play there after the 2 MK shows?

Didn't they get bad news around the time of that show? Or not?

Either way, I reckon it was some contractual obligation that they were p*ssed off with.

I believe that was the day they found out Richies father was dying of lung cancer.

That'd be a good reason to be 'down'

There was a show at the Olympic Stadium in Stockholm in 1996 that tickets went on sale for and then was cancelled due to Wolkswagen being the promotor and they wanted Jovi to do a private gig in Germany for the company on the same date.

When Stephanie was born, Jon wanted to be there and see his baby being born.
He delayed his departure and couldn't make it to the first show in Japan.
When Jon finally arrived in Japan, they did 2 shows in one day to compensate.
So it's not really "cancelled" but "postponed", I guess.
But it happened at the last minute and I bet there were some people who couldn't
make it.
