His current vocal problems are probably repairable, at least to some degree - as far as I know, Jon doesn't smoke anymore and is taking singing lessons again. It will just take longer than usual, due to the psychological reasons mentioned on many other threads.

The world must seem like such a beautiful place with your degree of optimism.

He's allegedly been doing all that for a few years. And it hasn't drastically improved. No matter how many people raved about the SA leg, his voice was still just as terrible. Wake up, it's over.

Have you completely lost your faith in Jon as a singer? I'm confused. It's true that his voice sucks ass in general nowadays, but I don't think it's 100% impossible for it to get better. Probably improbable, though (at least on a consistent fashion).

Let's put it like this:

Decent/consistent vocal performances on Always in 2018 - 5-10
Poor/inconsistent vocal performances on Always in 2018 - 20-25

Decent/consistent vocal performances on Bed Of Roses in 2018 - 15-20
Poor/inconsistent vocal performances on Bed Of Roses in 2018 - 10-15

Decent/consistent vocal performances on These Days/Hey God/Dry County in 2018 - 0-5
Poor/inconsistent/f***ing horrible performances on These Days/Hey God/Dry County in 2018 - 25-30

That's what I think the level of Jon's vocal consistency will be like in general next year. Walleris, do you agree?

Yes.

Don't you remember that I'm a Bon Jovi hater?

I don't understand your question/statement. What do these numbers mean? Percentages? Number of performances?

Either way, if doing a somewhat decent Bed Of Roses and then shouting/whispering for 8 straight songs (as opposed to shouting/whispering 9 straight songs) counts as improving, sure he can "improve". He has many times, but that's not real improvement. After a very marginally better performances he always regresses to the mean on the next one. A real improvement would be to sound decent without giving 120% twice out 20 songs.

The recent footage of Born To Be My Baby from Chile is the perfect example. It's a song for which Jon puts his normal levels of effort, because it's not a belter (like the songs you mentioned) and he get away with not killing himself. And despite the supposed improvement on the SA leg, he sounded absolutely dreadful. And that's the way I believe he is going to sound for the rest of his, hopefully short, touring career. Unless, he finds a way to hit a new low.

I'm not saying that overall the shows in SA weren't better than NA. I'm just saying Jon's vocals weren't.

Number of performances (out of 30 shows)...

He's probably not going to sing Hey God and/or Dry County more than a handful of times (at best) in NA, though. I don't even think he'll have the guts to go for Bed Of Roses and/or Always at every show. In those concerts, IBTFY will most likely get played as the "big ballad", though.

Honestly, These Days would be a great every-night song - especially as it's barely been played in NA (especially US) since the respective tour of the album. That said, Jon's voice probably wouldn't handle it on any level of decency more than once (or, with a lot of luck, twice) a leg - however, I think they'll play it in Montreal, Toronto and NYC, at least. Maybe in Philly as well.

Your reply:

That sounds so Seb!

Also, Seb was often talking about his fiancée being at the shows and you were talking about your husband being at them at the same time as well. I don't know what exactly caused me to think that you were a couple, but I'm sorry for the confusion (and especially for posting about you two to Seb before I knew).

Poor guy - I'm worried that I hurt his feelings now that he seems to have been going through a hard time lately, judging by his post on the previous page...
I didnt post that?????

To be honest I don’t expect anything ...

He gave 120% on the South American shows last year and Rock In Rio is the proof he can’t do that on an regular basis: he had to cut 5-6 songs from the printed setlist and wasn’t even able to say goodbye at the end of Prayer ...

I don’t get why people here still come up with the same expectations before each tour. They won’t play Hey God in NA, nor will the Bouce tracks return to the setlist ... I don’t even see they playing Hey God in Europe, unless Phil sings the chorus.

I figure he's passing the tambourine to Everett, while Jon's stuck to the mic stand.
