Default Extra Guys

OK so after reading 7 pages of "Whats wrong with Jon" I didn't find any answer to one of the questions that the main post brought up, that being what are the extra musicians brought along on this tour (forgive me I can remeber their names and don't have the energy to look it up) adding to the sound of the band? I havnt' noticed any difference in the sound of the regular material from the Bounce tour to this one, nor do I think they are essential to the HAND material either. Also at the Toronto show on Jan 23 they seemed so disinterested in all that was going on (especially the other guitarist/bassist whatever that stands with Hugh). Since that was the only show I have seen on this tour so far I don't know if they always look like that or if it was just the one night. If they are essential to the sound of the band performing HAND stuff live does anyone know how they got picked for this gig? Just asking cause if I were a musician and Bon Jovi came up and asked me to play with them on tour I'd be having a hell of a lot more fun than these guys seem to be.

I think the best answer is because the band want them there. And the guys are Bobby Bandiera, guitarist, and Jeff Kazee, keyboards, on loan from Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. They are both good friends of the band. I don't think Bobby is disinterested but rather tries to stay in the shadows.

I saw them twice this tour, and I think both of them are great musicians! Being a musician myself, I really appreacited the work both of them did. I don't want to speculate , but like many other REAL BANDS (I'm talking U2 level, not britney spears) BJ probably uses background tracks and samples. Maybe these two musicians are simplifying the process of having to sample other guitar, effects, etc...
Regarding the fact that they look bored, i think bjcrazycpa makes a point here, they are left in the shadows, although both shows I saw Bobby Bandiera interacting with the stage crowd.

I don't know how to say this without offending but if you can't tell if one of the extra guys is a bassist or a guitarist, I wouldn't expect you to notice the extra sound. I mean no offence, just making a point. You wouldn't know what to listen for.

Personally, I think they're a great addition to the band. It's nice to finally have two guitars in Bad Name. The extra harmonies on all the songs sound great to me.

I had just put eye drops in and read the name of this thread as "Extra Gays" which raised all sorts of questions. "Which ones were the original gays? Why did they need to add more?"

Bobby and Jeff are excellent musicians, but they bore the crap out of me.

Agreed. They make Hugh look like a party animal. I don't think it was the best choice to have them level with the other guys on stage and I preffered it when they were in the back, like at the Borgata shows. Musically though, they're great.

No offense taken about the "wouldn't know what to listen for comment" (Sorry I'm new and don't know how to properly quote yet and people seem to get REALLY mad if you do it wrong!) I've never taken an music appreciation courses nor have I ever played in instrument so aside from knowing the main differences between the sound of a Bass and a Guitar I have absolutely no other musical knowelege. I have no doubt that they are great musicians I never meant to imply otherwise. Just wondering what they brought to the band since they weren't present on the Bounce tour. Sounds like subtle differences I wouldn't notice anyway for 2 reasons:

1. Bounce show was almost 3 years ago
2. I enjoy the energy of the live show so much that they could be playing Eukeleles and bongo drums and I probably wouldn't complain.

Thanks for the info...
