Have they been better? Probably. Was I there to see them better? Nope. I wouldn't say they're better than last tour but their leagues above how I saw them on the Bounce tour. Kathleen is completely right, Richie's playing is miles better now that he's not drinking (as much...? I dont know if he's stopped completely). His playing has very much improved. Your opinion is based on one single show this tour. Others have seen many many shows and the reviews haven't been all that bad from the fans on this board.
Can I just say; What an excellent post. I don't post an awful lot on the BJ sections of this board, however I've been meaning to write something like this for a few weeks now. That hit the nail on the head. Thanks bud

Some songs he just screams out. SOme are pretty decent like old Skid ROw tracks . But some are just metal without melody. Nice cd after all!

Sorry but Axl Rose and Sebastian Bach are still amazing live. They screamed before and they scream now. Not much has changed.

Axl did sound great when I saw GN'R last year, HOWEVER he could only sing 2 to 3 (depending on length) songs before needing 5-7 minutes down, which was filled in by solos. (From my view, it looked like he was taking oxygen shots, but I can't swear to it.)
But, he did put on a great show.
Bach was the opener, but I can't judge him, as the sound was terrible for him.
(At one point, he began screaming at his engineer from the stage)

I missed Bach when I saw GnR the second time, cos I didn't know he was supporting And he didn't support when I saw them the first time

I dunno if your argument about the solos and the breaks works ... it's a bit of a chicken-and-egg thing. Did Axl get off the stage to give the guitarists a chance to solo? Or did they solo to give Axl a break? I dunno

Well we could se him taking hits, and you could hear the vocals deteriorate from song to song.

I know they've played 18 of those songs already, but they do only 2 gems per night max. My set has at least 8 songs in it that satisfy both the die hard and the casual fan. And yes they are promoting LH, but I really think a band whose setlists focus on hitsingles shouldn't play 7 songs from a new album if the album didn't consist of any hitsingles at all. And there's a small chance of the band performing Lie To Me. They played it about 30 times in their entire career.

Now regarding all the other singers;

Axl sounds shit nowdays, and the natural rasp he used to have in the late eighties, early nineties is something he needs to fake nowadays in order to sound decent. If his voice is shot, he sounds crap. The guitar solo's were there in 1992/1993 too, but they weren't there after every 3 songs. His voice is gone for the most part.

Vince Neil's voice is gone too. They went on tour with Aerosmith last year, but he could barely sing his own songs, and at some shows ended up apologizing for his voice.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Baz has an incredible voice, I love it in I Remember You for example. But I think he's not singing while performing live - it's just screaming.

Second thing is that he and his friend Axl are great examples of total fools. I don't like them because of their behaviour.

Quote:
He sounded bloody awful. Listen to him at the Freddie MErcury Tribute Concert in 1992 when he was in his mid 40's. He DESTROYED the song (which was never released on the official VHS/DVD!).
Definately - I got that footage - the performance was horrible!!! I don't like that guy anyway..
Vince Neil - can't judge but from the recording it's obvious he can't sibg it anymore
Bret Michaels - as far as I love Poison I have to admit he doesn't have that good voice and it's getting worse as it's happening to Jon

To all: I don'z think it's that bad with Jon's voice. I think OWN tour was last with perfect voice. He's just getting older, everyone's voice will be lower. I heard that every performance of many interprets are half tone downtuned live compared to studio albums. Yeah they downtuned some songs more to make it singable pro Jon. But generally I do not see it as some tragedy. He himself doesn't need any surgery or coach - he can sing like that, it's more comfortable for him. He doesn't need to demonstrate anything.

Jon struggled with Have A Nice Day the first time he sung it live
Right - Live 8 and show in Amsterdam was terrible. He had bigger problems with Last Man Standing as I remember.

Man, you guys are hard to please. By the sounds of it there is no one left in the world of Rock that can sing anything....These guys are in their mid 40's. What the **** do you expect?

Anyone have anything positive to say at all? Jon, Axl Rose, Seb Bach..all these guys which I have seen live lately are still awesome(all things considered). I even saw RATT and Winger recently. Man! Kip Winger is fantastic live.

There arent any more frontmen left. Unless you think guys like Rob Thomas and the Maroon 5 dude put on a show even half as good as the 80's frontmen.

So Im going to be celebrating whats left as opposed to being bitter that my childhood memories have been forever tainted. A bit too much drama ppl...lets get out and smell the roses once in a while eh
