Pretty harsh and hurtful because the fans come and go, it's a constant flow! I can't see why the so called die-hard fans boast so much of being with the band almost from the beginning instead of being happy that the family is growing, not shrinking to the very same old faces. I joined the BJ community about two years ago when the band was obviously on a hiatus and the whole drama of Richie's leaving wasn't that much of a sore spot anymore. I AM catching up on everything, spending ridiculously a lot of time on reading/listening to/watching everything I could possibly do and trying to fit it this incredibly tight-knit fandom. It's not the first fandom I'm in and I can't lump all BJ fans together. I'm a bit disheartened at times, though, because I strongly believe that, unless somebody is trolling hard, we should embrace all individuals as they come, with their different opinions. Loving the band does not mean sugarcoating their every damn move, let alone igniting the fights among the community who is better at whatever. The band has succeeded in being together for 30+ years and this is longevity most fans can just dream of because as I've said, it's a constant flow!

What does this have to do with the tea in China?

I quoted you my friend and answered your accusations directly, if you pardon my French.

See, now I was defending a fan who actually went to show, had a great time, gave her perspective, and was ridiculed because of it...

Since when was it insulting? Good to know some fans still enjoy live concerts, there are many factors which contribute to overall enjoyment but it doesn't mean we can't disagree on this board for fear of being rude. I have no doubts the fandom won't die even if Jon's voice disappeared completely because you see, not everybody cares that much. Maybe we are too harsh on Jon, he's not 20-year-old anymore but hell, if you continue to perform with such limitations, you must be prepared for some form of criticism. Jon is fully aware of it, he voiced it loud and clear in GBTM lyrics. If I am NOT going to live BJ concert because it's not satisfying for me, doesn't it mean I'm less of a fan or my judgement is invalid? Let's agree on one thing: some people will take it as it is, others will criticise but we're all in the same place. I just hope the freedom of speech won't become political correctness, that's all.

I appreciate you and Matt and others doing so too. You get it. Being there is not the same as watching a video.

I saw Billy Joel last weekend and there were a couple of times that he was singing and the microphone was nowhere near his face. I don't mean the lag you see on the screen, I mean obvious incidents of vocals coming out of the speakers and they were not coming from him. I found out from a friend who is more informed on Billy Joel than me that he has an impersonator in his band who covers the notes he can't hit. So... no wonder he sounds so good for 67, right?

I think I'll take an honest Jon with his flaws who is making the effort and working to improve himself over leaving a show feeling like I've been duped.

P.S. I'm going to Memphis next month.

People can just the YouTube videos all they want but it's different when you say something about the show from actually being there and they are discrediting your option based on the YouTube video...

But as you said yourselves, being in live concert is different because the bad vocals don't bother that much when the loud music is pumping up from the loudspeakers, people are a little dizzy from beer and excitement and there are a lot of visuals to keep you busy. Not all Youtube vids are bad quality and they are more revealing what the current status is plus a lot of actual concert goers confirmed it themselves.

It's nothing personal on any member of the board. I'm happy for those who can truly enjoy the live performance. I actually wish I did.

I'd worry more if the In concert experience is awful. That's what you look forward to, spend money on. If a YouTube clip is shit, it has no real impact on your day.

The thing is ... no one is trying to tell you that you can't like Bon Jovi live anymore (except for that one rude guy a few posts ago). People are just saying that they think the show is not good enough for them anymore, and you refuse to accept their opinion. As I said earlier, if you like the current performances, good for you, I respect your opinion, have fun. But stop trying to became the new Seb and answer people like that just because they have a different opinion than yours. This is a discussion board about a band we all love, so there is no "there's no need to say this again" as you stated a few posts ago.

I feel happy for Becky that she had fun and enjoyed the show, but that doesn't mean I'm going to convince her that the band sucks nowadays. Take it easy and try to live in a world (or board) where people disagree on a lot of things.
