Let me just clarify something... I think people are saying that I'm preaching that Jon's voice is better than it is in person verses You Tube... and that's NOT what I'm saying... I'm just saying that his struggles aren't as noticeable when you are there in person due to certain factors... It's a just a general observation that I think most who actually attend shows would agree with...

Although I agree with everyone about Scars being a total snooze fest, it really is the perfect Nashville song (And Southern US States)...

That's true. I also notice that his voice is lower in the mix this year. If you add the noise, the energy, the acoustics of the room, you can easily not notice how bad or not is his voice.

I like Scars but could see how it wouldn't go down well, especially in a block of 4 or 5 new songs.

It's been mentioned elsewhere, but he needs to sell it a bit more. This would have been perfect on The Circle walkway, the new songs need a USP to get people into them.

These past few shows have the noise and energy of a morgue. Unless you're drunk or high there's no way Jon doesn't sound bad.

Yes. He sounds bad. But you are in a concert where there is noise from the people around who is singing like karaoke, Jon's voice is low in the mix, they have 4 backing vocalists and you watch a show with moving lights, moving platforms, moving guitarists (Phil X), moving percussionists (Everett) and some big screens. Also, when they play Bad Medicine or other hits, you jump around and sing along. You say 'f@ck it that's bad medicine baby OOOOH shake it up just like etc etc'.

He does sound bad. But you can't notice it because of the above. This is a big difference I personally experienced. I was having great (sober and not high) fun at the concert. When I get home, I opened youtube and was like WTF is this from tonight? Of course in youtube you are not jumping around and have a more careful listen, maybe the source is better than your ears had in the side of the stage where you were seated etc.

Let me quote something form the other thread

I also liked his stories, there was something about the whole set up that felt very intimate, like we were in a small venue not a huge one and I really appreciated that they were able to create that feeling. Anyway - everyone I saw left smiling so I think it was easily worth the $$.

Using the argument that YouTube videos make Jon sound worse than he really is doesn't add up at all. When he sings well it comes across in the videos well. When he sings bad it comes across bad.

There are so many old videos on YouTube where Jon has fantastic vocals. If you tube makes him sound worse then he wouldn't sound as great on them unless they have all been mixed and auto tuned.

Jon has lost all power in his voice for whatever reason and it sucks for all of us who love Jovi. YouTube isn't to blame for making him sound bad

It doesn't make him sound worse... that's not the argument... YouTube is how he sounds... The argument is, it's not as noticeable when you are there live because of multiple factors...

While I agree that the factors mentioned can mask some of the flaws, you can't not notice it by now. You gotta be deaf in order not to hear that he has no voice left, even if you're there in person. When I saw them in Germany 2013 his vocal flaws were already noticeable and there he still was far above the level he has now. I had a great time and I'm not saying that people nowadays at concerts shouldn't, but even back then it was hard not to notice that he already had a hard time singing What The Water Made Me.

What I find funny is that I've read on multiple YT videos from the SWW tour that people had attended the gigs and were surprised as to how hoarse he had sounded. Given the energy level and showmanship they had back in the 80's, it was still obvious to fans, so I doubt that attendees don't notice it nowadays. Maybe we don't read much about it because they are the ones actually listening to the band and not surfing on social media raving about what a great time they're having
