it's easy to post the negative things because everybody at the shows could see the positive aspects. there's really no need to say 'wanted was great' or 'they played prayer well' because everybody already knows this is par for the course. you pick the moments that stand out as being differentiated from other experiences; in this case a poor setlist.

Default sarcasm

Derek - its a shame that you fit into that pigeonholed category of those people (who normally hang out on backstage) who believe that it is wrong or that they are not worthy to make critical comments about their demi-gods! There was no sarcasm or confrontation in my original posting at all, yet I cant say the same for your contributions.

Surely aldous huxley is not actually BJ's secret 6th member - i am allowed an opinion, even if it does go against the 'party line'?

i am not saying you are right or wrong - i'm just saying that thats what i think based on 17 years of fandom and following the band. Maybe I've seen them too much, maybe I'm not the same impressionable teenager willing to accept whatever the band throw at me, maybe collecting bootlegs is a bad idea because familiarity breeds contempt, i don't know.

just chill man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS I did leave a ten point missive with evidence detailing why I actually think as I do - I see nothing like that from you - so heres a challenge for you - come up with the counter arguments to my points!!!!!!!!! Dare Ya!

OK, big shot. I'm game.
For starters, don't PRESUME to know anything about me. Just the fact that you're so quick to mistakenly LABEL ME (pigeonhole was your phrase) as someone who frequents Backstage (wrong - I read ocassionally yet don't frequent or post) and consider the band demigods (have you EVER read any of my posts Einstein?) and don't say anything or criticize the band (refer to last question) indicates that even anything of merit in your post should be ignored as the source has been called into question...
That said...

1) 3 out of 4 dates same set list? who told you to go to all of them? oh, you didnt' go to all of them? so why are you complaining online about a show you didnt' attend? and are setlist the only thing that defines a show for you?

2) 3 out of 4 dates weren't as long as mainland Europe? Again, is it the running time of the show that dictates if it's good or not. How can you quantify the enjoyment and pleasure you have at a show based on duration alone?

3) The band didn't tell you to go to multiple shows. You made that decision on your own, spent your money on the shows on your own... that was your call and your gamble. Your loss if you don't like what you saw... but to claim you deserve more because you went to more shows is improper logic. This isn't Vegas... you're odds of winning don't increase the more you spend.

4) You think you didn't get what you paid for... that's fine, but that's just your opinion... again, no one told you to spend that money and time that way...

5) Corporate entertainment is a bullshit turn of phrase for the lazy. The band gets no critical respect. The band barely gets airplay. The band hardly sold albums. The band's videos aren't in heavy rotation. Yet you break out the old "corporate band" partyline when it's convenient... you lose on that issue hands down. The band is going to play a wide array of songs - like said in an earlier post, they're still attracting a wide range of new, young fans and they can't cater to the fringe element of diehards who know every demos, b-side and lyrics every composed.

6) What celebs in Dublin? Special Olympics? Get over it... and there were no celebs in Dublin? So your argument doesn't even stand a chance on that point... threw that one in there for good measure, eh?

7) "Cash cow" - you're just pissed you spend your money and didn't get what you think you deserved... funny that whole band/money issue comes up again.

8) Agree with you knowing what songs come next and what Jon will say but I repeat my origiinal question to you: WHY ARE YOU GOING TO SO MANY SHOWS AND THEN COMPLAINING YOU KNOW THE SET LIST & BANTER?

9) Corporate entertainers bullshit again... musical integrity vs. a good show. You're just saying that to argue the point that YOU BELIEVE which is YOU DIDN'T LIKE THE SHOWS THAT YOU PAID SO MUCH MONEY TO SEE

10) Next time you and Jon are sitting around, why don't you treat him to your thesis on why the band is no good and what they should do to for you, er, I mean to improve their credibility?

Debate is not a sport for the sake of entertainment. "I don't want to argue, I just want to debate"... why? And yes, apparently familiarity DOES breed contempt because there is an abundance of contempt on some posts.
EVIDENCE? No... it's not evidence. It's not fact. It's YOUR OPINION and the reasons why you formed that opinion... which you are 100% entitled to... but don't mistake it for fact. I don't think my opinion is the only way to think...

My question remains: why follow the set lists? why go to multiple shows? and if you do, why are you surprised that you're unhappy?

Yeah CD head, because when I booked my tickets in November they gave you the setlist, and a scedule to see how long the band will be on, and a note to say *Jon will not be peforming his best for this show* CDhead

YOu really are a CDhead aren't you!

Sheppards bush was nothing to do with a tour.... You could put Bon Jovi in arena's over Europe and so long as they played enough of them then they'd sell without overselling too much. Also, Gold standing this time ment that touts were able to sell tickets for £100's, where's the solution? Also, if I want tickets for something, I go down that morning, or even the night before to get them. That's how people get tickets for things that get sold out in 5mins. And like I said, if you think for Manchester, there are people coming in from all around the country to the concert, becuase they play so few, if they did say 3 big arena's they'd sell to cities, instead of areas of the country.

You and Thierry make a wonderful team. Neither will be missed in the states. Children, go off and play nice now. Take your CDs and stomp out of the room pouting.... Consider me Michael Jordan. I'm out of retirement.
