Default FINALLY!!!! Australia/ New Zealand Fans heads Up!!!!

Christchurch rock fans' long-lived prayers have been answered – Bon Jovi will play their only New Zealand concert in the city next January.

Over the past decades, die hard Bon Jovi fans have been resigned to travelling overseas to see the band known for hits such as Livin' On A Prayer and You Give Love A Bad Name.

A website petition has more recently been circulating requesting a full Bon Jovi tour for Australia and New Zealand.

Yesterday the group which has sold more than 120 million albums and played 2500 concerts in more than 50 countries announced it will be stopping over in New Zealand to play a one-off concert at Christchurch's AMI Stadium on January 27.

The band will arrive from Japan via Australia on their Bon Jovi – The Lost Highway tour. After playing in Christchurch playing in Christchurch they head home to the United States to play at a half-time show of the American Football Super Bowl.

AMI stadium is expected to be sold out with fans from around New Zealand attracted by the award-winning group's mix of classic rock anthems and ballads.

Christchurch Mayor-elect Bob Parker announced the Bon Jovi concert yesterday. He said it would be the first of many as part of the city council's strategy to bring in big acts.

"Christchurch is a creative city, with stunning facilities such as the AMI stadium and the Westpac stadium, capable of hosting these large scale events," he said.

Parker, a keen guitarist, said he would definitely be in the Bon Jovi audience: "Absolutely. Can't wait."

Great news for fans in that area of the world!!

The news should be up on the official website soon, hopefully there will be many Australian dates.

Also, it says the band will be playing at the Super Bowl again this year. Pretty awesome...

It is funny that I waited so long for this and now, I won't even be there for when it happens. Life just likes giving you a few slaps just to keep you grounded. Ah well, after the couple of months that I have had, this doesn't seem so bad. I did get to 3 great shows last year too.

I am very glad for all the Aussies who have waited years for this, though. I hope they play killer shows Down Under, we deserve it.

Only one New Zealand show for all those guys in Aus and NZ who have waited so patiently for them to return though? Seems a bit harsh.

If they're taking the time to actually travel out there, would it be so hard to add a handful more dates?

I'm pretty sure they'll be announcing the Aus dates soon. There's no way it's one show for all of us.

Hi Everybody..
Just heard a hot rumour that Bon Jovi will be headling the big day out festival in Australia.
Now this was announced on the radio and if this is the case there will be quite a few pissed off aussie fans including me.
The big day out festival involves bands that sound very grundgy and how bon jovi would fit on that bill is beyond me.
Anyway hope its not true.
