I don't say they were the first but they made it famous. It was in arenas. They came with it on the Hysteria tour (officially called In The Round) which started in 1987 and lasted till the fall of 1988. They used it in North America only because it didn't fit the European venues. First European In the round show was in their hometome Sheffield in June 1992 at the beggining of the Adrenalize tour (Seven Days Weekend tour). Joe Elliot said that the first version of the stage was too heavy for European arenas...

Watch this - it is just awesome, incredible.. I love this band, I love this record, I love this particular song and I love this performance.. Steve The Riffmaster Clark just ROCKS (RIP Steve..)

Loads of bands have used "in the round "set ups for arena's.Even Justin Timberlake and a few pop acts have done it (even transfering it to stadiums for Europe) .Its nothing new.
Sure even half of the Lost highway tour was viewable from behind stage in the states(making it kind of 360).So doing a full in the round"Circle" tour wouldnt be a huge step.

I don't really care what the stage looks like.
I want affordable tickets and a kick arse set list

They better not use a stage like U2 if it was for me. Went to see U2 this summer and felt that attention was drawn away from the music and more towards the stage and its fancy features.
As has been stated before, I also want affordable ticket prices and great setlists. If it was for me, they could use a stage just like Bruce does, no fancy gadgets and all, just focus on the music. It's about the tunes.

re: who did the circle stage 1st. plenty of bands in the 60s (including the beatles) would play on a stage in the middle of a hall and then turn their amps round halfway through because they didn't have the PA's available that they do these days to line the amps through

Musta been shit for half of the show and great for the other.

What???? This is the first time i've heard this argument? No reason why their shows should not be at the level of U2, Stones, Bruce or others of that calibre.
Big show, big production, probably big price.

+ Prices are not determined by the band but by the local tour promotor, hence the differences in prices between the countries in europe

Yes i understand that of course. However these are not fruitful times are they? many are greatly suffering financially and cannot afford to go spending lots on tickets. So to be a successful tour they should keep tickets at a reasonable price.
