Its a (relatively) small standing pit just in front of the stage, only about 5-10 000 people are in it (I reckon anyway), and there is a seperate queue

Paul (The Walrus) is correct. The Gold Circle will more than likely be for 5,000-10,000 fans. It certainly was on the Bounce Tour anyway.

Well which would you prefer ... being at the back of 5000 people, or 70 000 people?

It actually doesn't go too far back ... at Hyde Park, the back of the Gold Circle can't have been ... more than 300 metres max away from the stage? (Disclaimer: I MAY JUST BE MAKING THAT UP). But it goes pretty wide. At Hyde Park I was certainly less than 100 metres from the stage and I didn't get there til about 2 in the afternoon

there was only 1000 people in the pit for U2 in croke park this year.
I would expect the same layout for jovi as well.

you are. there were around 20000 for hyde park if memory serves me correct so i would guess 5000 at a minimum for the smaller shows.

The pit at Dublin was the standard security pit and NOT a gold circle pit like the other shows - that's why it was small. The gold circle pits held between 2000-5000 ppl and changed size in each venue.

Also Jovi's layout at Croke will be nothing like U2's so don't bet on that ...
