Default Giants Night 3 Answer - Special?

Only bec Brians last tweet was so hilarious - and he neglected to phone me about his pre show whereabouts - though i shouldve just checked his tweets duh....

and for seb who actually taught classes on this when not in the double-thralls of post-show highs and Kathleen ET ALL highs

THERE WAS NOT ONE RARITY PLAYED TONIGHT. NOT ONE AT ALL. NOT ONE.

Was it a good setlist? Yes
Was it a great setlist? No

Was it a great show? i bet it was.

I didnt go. Was that the right call? - for me - for right now...yes it was...

Would i have ever really said that in the past? (even after the ridiculous 10-night Pru experience)
No.

Would i have ever have really even thought of not attending for these reasons in the past?
Not at all...

Do they care that somebody who has literally grown up with them willfully did not attend on principal?

........?

Marc, 1. I forgot your number.
2. I respectfully disagree That was a show for the ages.
As for the rarities? I mean Older, ITA, LIS, DR, D4U, DC. All of those are rarities on some level, especially on the last three tours.

i had yours - no worries - your last tweet is still making me crack up!

thats awesome you had such a blast! im really glad

i guess you are prob right - it depends on whose definition of rariety we are using - the dictionary or seb....

itll be interesting what he thinks...

I AM was a rariety...Wildflower was a rariety...These Days was a rariety...Alec coming out was a rariety...

None of those are really rare and the fact that those are taken as special is the disturbing part. I think almost every one of the songs was played the last time they played Giants sans DR which they have played mulitple times on this tour...

THIS WAS THEIR HOUSE - THEY DIDNT EVEN PLAY THAT! THIS WAS TO OPEN A STADIUM IN THEIR OWN BACKYARD!

NOTHING SPECIAL HAPPENED.

AT

ALL.

When a huge hit like Never Say Goodbye - which is ludicrous they dont play that more often in the first place - is a messed up audible and that is the single most intimate moment in 3 shows says alot.

They ended all 3 shows the same exact way...Really?? Did that just happen?? With songs from 1986??

Its approaching unacceptable that one would have to pay ~$500 dollars to actually hear some different songs over 3 nights and that nights 1 and 2 would be almost identical and night 3 all different...

If they go to Europe and they play actual rarities then once and for all i am going to stay with Seb if he will have me because this is actually totally ridiculous. Everybody wants to trek to jersey well i think it might be time to swim upstream...

I have no doubt the show totally rocked! Thats whats most important. You had a great time and that rocks so i really am happy for you. The band and Jon sound GREAT and I wasnt there and it stinks that i didnt want to be...

Were there rarities in the set that haven't been there in years?
No, they didn't play a song off the first two albums or an album cut that hasn't been there before in quite some time.

Were there songs in the set that are rarely played? Definately. I think now it just comes down to what you call a rarity. I personally call a song a rarity if it doesn't appear in a set often nowadays and there were plenty of them last night in there.

Was the show special? There were a lot of songs in there that made me become a fan in the first place, a lot of them which mean a lot for me personally as they helped me going through real tough times when I needed something to give me some kind of faith - so YES, for me it was special!!!

No I don't think it was special. All the songs mentioned have been staples on older tours.

The fact that 'Dry County', 'Living In Sin', 'Diamond Ring', 'Something For The Pain' etc. are no longer considered as rarities should make you realise that they obviously DO mix things up. Imagine saying that these weren't rarities in 2003/06?

What's the point.

In Europe, off the top of my head:

Living In Sin - 2 times
Dry County - 3 times
Diamond Ring - 4 times
Something For The Pain - 0 times
I'd Die For You - 2 times

*As I said, off the top of my head, but roughly correct.

Not exactly 'staples'.

Diamond ring was played a few times in the states too if i remember right
but not rarieties now, as living in sin is on the dvd as is Dry county.
I do like that they are playing something for the pain now though.
From their back catalogue how hard would it have been to pull out a couple of real Gems for thier "home" gigs.Esp as the production manager said they have 92 songs pre programmed into the lighting

I'd Die For You is not a rare song, in 2008/06 they just chose to drop it for something else. I love the song and was disappointed when it wasn't played but hey thats life.

The other songs are rare, each to their own I suppose.
