Seb has posted on a post-show high after many European shows and written a savage review. You might give him some credit for actually recognizing the quality of what he was hearing. Me too for that matter.

I thought a rare song was a song which gets played once or twice a tour. Going on the reasoning of some here, 'Damned' is not a rarity as it was played twice last tour and once in 2003.

It's a tricky area, because I agree with what you say there however...

I see Something For The Pain as a rarity, even though it's been played at most shows on this tour so far.

It's confusing

I consider a rarity to be song that's not played often (or at all) on the current tour. For example, if they were to play Undivided or Last Man Standing, they would be rarities. Now, not the same level of rarity as say My Guitar... but still rare.

first off - you are the queen of post show highs see Philly night 1 and richie analysis

secondly - i was at the same show as you guys in both philly night 1 and giants night 1

i totally agree with you that PHILLY night 1 was AWESOME but i dont agree on Giants night 1....prob because i saw it in PHILLY and it sounded better to me (aside from richie)

and to be honest from what i have read from your guys reviews - night 3 was eons better than night 1....

in his first line seb said it was the best DC since 1995...was night 3 the best....EVER?

I do think its funny that seb bashes every show he sees on you tube and gets killed for it but when he is there people arent allowed to disagree?

I was there just like all of you - do i get any credit for recognizing quality????

you know i love you guys im just busting on seb because he puts himself out there so much he must love it...

but honestly - which was better - Giants night 1 or Philly night 1?

it seems i picked the wrong nights at BOTH places so boo on me...but it really shouldnt be such "roulette" as to which shows will have decent sets or not...

Cmon guys - i gotta draw a line here - again the crowes and pj have DATABASES so people can accurately discuss stuff like this bc they need to...

"Damned" hasnt been a regular part of any setlist in what 15 yrs...if it ever was...

SFTP is played AT EVERY SHOW....dont get me wrong i love it and i love that he even threw the come on come on come ons back in there but those 2 examples arent confusing - at least to me...

If i missed something like that i would be bummed - im not bummed about anything i missed from this giants run sans the night 3 performance which i base solely on my respect for those that were there and what they have said (even Kathleen who is now on a post-show high and post-marc low i have not watched any youtube...

and that being so - doesnt that underscore that night 1 wasnt as great as everybody said or did they just hit a ridiculous high from out of nowhere on night 3.

i would suggest that if night 3 was so much better it was probably BECAUSE IT WAS DIFFERENT AND THE BAND WAS PROBABLY LESS BORED WITH THEMSELVES...

which hopefully becomes a learning moment...

STFP is the perfect example of what I was talking about. It's NOT a rarity on this tour, because it's played at every show (which is a great thing).

What's the point.
Excellent post, mate.

The fact that these aren't rare songs anymore prove that they are mixing it up a lot more than they have the past few tours.

If I went to a BJ show and the setlist was crap, of course I would be disappointed, but if it had the same amount of energy as the Giants shows have, then I don't think I'd leave unhappy in the end.

From the videos I've seen, Jon moves around more than he has since 2003 maybe? The one problem I had with the LH tour, was that he didn't move around the stage THAT much... but almost every video I've seen, he owns the stage again. That's what I love about seeing Bon Jovi. His voice is in great shape, Richie's playing the guitar excellent, so yeah, I think the shows were pretty special.

*As I said, off the top of my head, but roughly correct.

Not exactly 'staples'.
I read here often but rarely post. Having said that, I feel the need to do so today. I was at the show last night, and have been a fan since 1984. I have all their cd's, but really do not listen to the last few much. I prefer the old stuff. I must have seen them 10 -15 times in the past 20+ years.

Having said that I thought last nights show was amazing. I have never seen them do Livin in Sin (or did they do it at Giants '89, who can remember?) Dry County I last saw in 1995. Diamond Ring I never saw. Something for the Pain, I never saw. I'd Die For You, must be 10+ years. Even In These Arms was only my second time.

Why the hell would I care if they have done these songs in other cities here and there, or if they have played them in England this decade. Truth is with the many times I have seen this band, last night was a much different / better show.

PLUS, they played 2 hours and 50 minutes for crying out loud. How many bands even play more than 2 hours?

Sure, I wish they had done Only Lonely (I've been waiting since 1987 - my first show) to see that). And yes, I know they have played it here and there this year. But the truth is, last nights show was awesome. And the 70+ thousand in attendance was on their feet for nearly the entire show.

Those of you who say last night was nothing special either was not there, or you are delusional. I agree with the poster above, the set had many songs that are not "staples". I mean no disrespect, but unless you spend every day reading this or other BJ boards, trust me you left the show last night thinking it was AWESOME and that you saw a special show. Trust me, EVERYONE I know who was there feels this way, EVERYONE.
