Your arguement doesn't work at all. They had a set of song which developed a bit during the tour but they really weren't changing almost anything.
If you say they had only four albums, so why they didn't play something different from them? For the majority of the tour Homebound Train wasn't played, Wild Is The Wind was played few times, so was 99 In The Shade, Stick To Your Guns was played once. If you got Living In Sin there wasn't I'll Be There For You if you don't count March and April of 1989 and few shows in Europe in Winter of 1989. From Slippery they played Raise Your Hands once, Social Disease twice, Without Love never, Never Say Goodbye wasn't staple at all. The only song played from Fahrenheit was Tokyo Road and it was dropped in July of 1989. From the debut album Runaway was played and it wasn't a staple as well. Get Ready was also played but dropped quite soon. There were really enough songs to rotate but they didn't need it. There was no internet and freaks like us checking setlist every night and discussing it over and over. The people just went to the shows to have fun, they were given the mega hits and songs that worked well live = songs they belived that represent them the best. I guess that's what they are doing now as well. It is our problem that we don't agree. They are here for the masses and not for the 10% of the audience which are the diehards.
The setlist are a bit more static now than on the last tours but they are still changing it. The great majority of bands doesn't change anything. Even your beloved bands.

Freakin well said. Look at Kiss's setlists on the reunion tour(s). A lot of the same show, night after night. And they have 30+ albums so by his logic, should they be switching it up too. Hell, what's the point, he's already on my ignore list...

THERE WAS NOT ONE RARITY PLAYED TONIGHT. NOT ONE AT ALL. NOT ONE.

Was it a good setlist? Yes
Was it a great setlist? No

Was it a great show? i bet it was.

I didnt go. Was that the right call? - for me - for right now...yes it was...

Would i have ever really said that in the past? (even after the ridiculous 10-night Pru experience)
No.

Would i have ever have really even thought of not attending for these reasons in the past?
Not at all...

Do they care that somebody who has literally grown up with them willfully did not attend on principal?

........?

No they don't. Imagine they should care about every die hard gone crazy with all these unreal expectations. They played Dry County dude, opened with Who says, played I'd die for you (first time this tour and not really a regular song since 1995) .. how much more 'special' can it be. And oh yeah : 27 songs. The didn't play many longer sets this tour, did they .. so ... what more do you want FREAK

Do you have another favorite band now? Is there any other artist playing better shows, longer shows ???? What's the matter with al you who lost their minds and suddely believe that a band changes their setlist completely every day... No one does, no one did, no one will ever do this ... this is called : a TOUR !!! ... the band builds up a show in support of their latest album, the Circle. The setlist = the program you are going to see during this tour. And everyone who goes to see them in any state or country gets to experience 'The Circle Tour' .. (It's like when you go and see a show of Circe de soleil ... it's always indentical when it's the same show (or tour if you will)). Or it's like going to watch a musical (like mama mia ... it's the same everyday and anywhere in the world)

Do you expect the band to base its setlist on let's say the 200 die hards around the world that follow the band anywhere.

Really, how many (just how many) people do go and see a band more than once during the same tour? Take a guess ....

I'm getting sick of the word 'standard setlist' --> check any tour on seb's site: you'll see that a tour always contains 80% of the same songs during the same tour.

10-20% maybe.

How many people saw Bon Jovi the last tour or the one before, and got a near-identical show? 70% 80%?

It's hard to believe there are too many people going to see Bon Jovi for the first time in 2010. How many will get a better experience this time than they did the time before?

You said 10% to 20% -- I suspect it's lower than that, even.

Well, I saw them for the first time in 2007, and I have an online friend who went to her first show in 2008, so I guess anything is possible. Furthermore, IMO they are better this time around than they were on the last tour . . . and as far as I'm concerned, the difference is that Jon has upped his game considerably. I also like the new material a lot more.

How many days until my next show? I'm ready for another "fix"!

I'd say it's less than 5% actually.

If only one in 20 people are leaving the show thinking it was so amazing they should buy another ticket, it doesn't reflect well on the band.

I meant the percentage of people going to see the band multiple times on the same tour.

Okay, so I decided to do some research. The last time I went to a BJ concert before night #3 was the opening of the Newark arena. Here was that setlist:

Lost Highway
You Give Love A Bad Name
Summertime
Born To By My Baby
Just Older
Whole Lot of Leavin'
(You Want to) Make A Memory
It's My Life
We Got It Goin' On
Have A Nice Day
In These Arms
These Days (Richie on vocals)
Seat Next To You
Blaze of Glory (acoustic)
I Love This Town
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Raise Your Hands
Bad Medicine (with Shout)
Who Says You Can't Go Home
Any Other Day
Blood On Blood
Livin' On A Prayer
Wanted Dead Or Alive

That is 23 songs. Of the 23 songs, 11 were dropped from the show I just saw last week. Simple math says that 12 songs were repeats. BJ did 27 songs on Saturday night. That means 15 were NOT repeats (at least for me) from tour to tour. 15 of 27! 55%!!!

Say what you want, but I don't think anyone should expect a band with the number of hits that BJ MUST play (Prayer, Wanted, Bad Name, etc) could change anymore.

Maybe we spend alot of time on here reading setlists, collecting bootlegs, etc... Therefore show to show on a given tour may seem somewhat stale (and I disagree with that, but Im willing to give in). But when you look at the people AT the shows, we saw two very differnet shows only 2 years apart from each other.
