Default Giants stadium capacity?

How much people does it take.
I heard that Bon Jovi sold it out and there were 60 000 people...? At least in One Last Wild Night...
But Stones had gig in Giants in 2002 and there were 78 000 people???

For a sporting event the capacity is a little over 80,000. For concerts, the capacity will vary depending on the stage set up, what the field seating is like, etc.

yeah you are totally right - giants was wierd this year...

i think they might have had problems selling out 3 nights and i think there is some fudge factor in what an acutal sell out is...

for example - they can decide that everything behind the stage is off limits or that plus everything next to the stage...

for a giants home game - there is 80,000 so for a real complete sell out you would then add all the people on the field...

i think the jovis sold about 60,000 and depending on the seating charts declared that a sell out...

i was there night 3 = it was awesome and there were no empties i can remember except for the side and behind the stage so maybe there were like 25k seats in those areas....

just my guesses...not really sure - i did notice it this time round that the numbers seemed a bit off...

You are right Marc, AEG determines a sell out and it's never 100% of the seats available but a percentage of tickets and I believe it's 85%. They waited until more than 60% of the tickets sold for the first night, then the same for the second night before they added the third night. I'd say the crowd was anywhere from 55,000-65,000 depending on the night with the most being at night three.

I'm not sure but I think the Bon Jovi shows had more attendance then the Stones shows.

Wasn't it 80 000 people when they headlined Giants in 1989? That's what Jon says in Access All Areas. It's funny how a "sell-out" is achieved with less and less tickets sold these days

True. The Stones only did 2 shows there this year and I don't think either was ever promoted as being sold out. There were a lot of empty seats at the one I went to.
Plus I don't think they would have even had as many people as they did if they hadn't started practically giving the tickets away near the end. I got an email a week before the show about a deal where you could get 4 tickets and 4 t-shirts for $99!

Or I just deleted it before even reading it. I do remember the one about the big expensive packages they were offering.

I seem to remember FC members getting tickets for the 3rd night the same day as tickets for the 1st and 2nd nights though. So they must have known that there would be a third show. I was there nights two and three both nights looked packed to me. The seating didn't seem much different from any other Jovi Giants show I've been to.
