The whole ticket pricing issue is very interesting to me. On the one hand you have prices inflating to obscene levels to offset the fact that the physical record industry is dead. Not dying, but dead. The whole VIP package thing (not just Jovi, but in general) is really just an overpriced mess. Those kind of things should be included in Fan Club Memberships and such. However, one thing not mentioned in the article that IMO led to this is "Front Row Syndrome." My philosophy on concerts has always been an "In The Building" one, and it's served me well. I average about 15 major gigs a year, and still keep myself on a concert budget. However there's a vast majority of people who either want to be "close" or not bother going. They'll pay insane prices, as long as they can get that, which leads to deranged prices for front row seats, and a serious depletion in GA style gigs.
