Will believe it when I see it re: Songs from 7800 being played.

How much BS has Obie spouted before in the past? Call me cynical but I just don't believe it.
Last tour was a step towards greater diversity in the setlists but not far enough so lets hope all the initial chat about this one being heavy on rotation and audibles bears out.

Still can't quite bring myself to believe it.

In & Out Of Love is one of the greatest hard rock songs ever written. It overshadows the other songs on that album. They should play it on a regular basis and every now and then open their shows with it. Iīd like to see Richie play a sunburst Les Paul on it and Jon to run all over the stage with his microphone stand, exchanging adrenaline with the audience. Alltough I came along quite early on, Iīm sad to admit Iīve never witnessed them play that song.

Iīve got a lot of friends who donīt appreciate Bon Jovi at all but who still think Runaway is a great rock song. Even the people who bash all the big late-80īs Bon Jovi hits say Runaway is decent. Bon Jovi shouldnīt be ashamed to still perform it, no matter how juvenile the lyrics may sound. Iīm glad they played it so much on the Lost Highway tour.

Well, I wouldn't go so far and say "In & Out Of Love" is one of the best hard rock sings ever written. Let's be honest, however great you and me think that 7800 is, without "Slippery" not many people would care about it today. I just think they COULD make it fit into their setlists, maybe because it was on "One Wild Night - Live" and worked quite well in that context.
My favourite track off the album would be "Only Lonely", but I have to admit they times are gone when it would sound good. The whole album is just too 80ish. But if they pull out I&OOL, I'll be pleasantly surprised. If they play "Tokyo Road" I'll freak out. THAT is one of the best rock songs written, especially that version from Rio 1990. But if I'm a bit afraid they would play it in Japan only.

"Runaway" was never such a rarity though. They just skipped it on the OWN tour and played it regularly since the "Bounce" tour. It's just one of their best live songs, and it has nothing juvenile on it, unlike "In & Out Of Love".

But if we are talking about songs that should return to the stage, I would give the spots gladly away for stuff like "One Wild Night", "Let It Rock", "Hey God", "Dry County", "This Ain't A Love Song"...

I admit Fahrenheit sounds very 80īs. It is partly overproduced and the massive backing vocals on many choruses are sort of annoying. Still, I stand for what I said, I&OOL has aged better than the rest on that album and it rocks like no other song after that.

As far as Tokyo Road is concerned, I think itīs a solid rocker but what it lacks is a more powerful chorus. The verses are BJ at their best. I prefer I&OOL if it comes down to these two. Only Lonely was one of my favorite BJ songs in the 80īs, but like you said, it hasnīt stood the test of time that well.

IMO the lyrics of Runaway arenīt really adolescent, they are merely standard pop lyrics if nothing much more. It was Jon himself who repeatedly expressed his concern on the fact that he might lose some of his credibility because of the lyrics. I suppose not many people really consider it a problem. On the Crush tour they played that ballad version of Runaway and I think it sort of ruined the whole thing. Itīs ment to be a loud rocker.

In europe they would and most especially in the UK. These Days was big over here and Bon Jovi were massive in 95/96. Everyone above the age of 25 would love to hear These Days material as for a lot of people it's what they grew up with.
