Default How safe around Palace of Auburn Hills (Detroit)?

Hi,
Can anybody tell me how safe there? I live in Austria and I've heard that Detroit is the most unsafe city in the current US.....But I really want to experience Detroit show as the crowd there is always great.
Any info would be appreciated.
Amy

well, not sure where you heard about that, but there was a segment on tv here about philly the most dangerous cuty in ythe US with highest murder rate or something. anyways, i cant imagine Detroit being bad enough that it would prevent you from having a great time

It's not like people are waiting for you to take the clothes of your back.
I've went to some concerts in Detroit when my cousin lived there, I also went out a bunch of times around the city to see the clubs and nightlife.
I'm not saying it's Disneyland or anything, but nothing ever happened to me.

The Palace of Auburn Hills is not actually in the city of Detroit, either. It is out in the suburbs -- close to Pontiac. I'm not familiar with the Detroit metro area, but I don't think that's a tough area. I have some relatives that live near there (obviously not ones I'm close to!), and they aren't the type to live anywhere marginal.

Thanks everyone for letting me know that. I have many jovi friends here but they don't want to travel to US for jovi shows like me and I'm doing solo for 2nd US leg so I really appreciate the information.

Auburn Hills is quite far from Detroit.
I watched quite a few shows there, it's a relatively safe area. It's not the 'hood' part of Detroit.
