Lightbulb How would you improve the standard Bon Jovi show?

First of all I would move bad name further down the set, it has been stuck there for 20 years. Imagine if they ended the main set with it and had some cool new backdrop images/lighting. It would be dark so it would even better and might just breathe life into it.

IML - they gotta shake this song up, Bigtime. Why not do a "TLFR" intro and then kick in to the full song?

If like to see the covers return for Sleep - this was great on the LH tour.

I reckon they should have a pool of songs they play regularly like ITA, WGIGO, CC, Born to be my baby, Faith, LH, etc and only play a maximum of two songs from it per night and rotate them.

Also I'd prefer to hear Prayer earlier in the show or at least not do the same Wanted/Prayer encore every night.

Btw this thread isnt intended as a(nother) Casuals Vs Diehards debate, im talking about if you actually could have some input into how the show pans out.

How about losing the concept of "a standard Bon Jovi show"? It should be a different thing each night, different songs, different arrangements etc. Nothing standard.

1. Ensure that EVERY SHOW has BOBITA
2. Play at least 25 original songs per show
3. Play at least 1 song from every studio album
4. Get Alec back, play as a 5 piece band
5. Ensure that EVERY SHOW has BOBITA

Something like this:
1 Lay Your Hands On Me
2 Bad Medicine
3 Born To Be My Baby
4 We Weren't Born To Follow
5 Lost Highway
6 What Do You Got
7 Wanted Dead Or Alive
8 In And Out Of Love
9 I'll Be There For You
10 Undivided
11 We Got It Going On
12 Blood On Blood
13 In These Arms
Acoustic Segment
14 Thank You For Lovin' Me
15 Never Say Goodbye
End of Acoustic Segment
16 Love's The Only Rule
17 You Give Love A Bad Name
18 Have A Nice Day
19 It's My Life
20 Keep The Faith
Encore 1
21 Always
22 Runaway
23 Someday I'll Be Saturday Night
Encore 2
24 Who Says You Can't Go Home
25 Livin' On A Prayer

I don't think it's possible to improve the show.
I don't mean that from a "it's so good already" perspective, but from an energy/youthfulness perspective.

Yesterday I watched the 1995 show from Wembley on DVD. It wasn't the 3rd night "Live From London" show, but the 1st night (Friday).
Regardless of which night it was though, there was an immense amount of energy being brought out by the band as a whole.
Everyone just seemed to be "on it" and the show was perfect.

15 years on that show just doesn't work any more.
I guess it's understandable, though, especially as in 1995 Jon was younger than I am now.....

If anything, they should take 5 years off, do their own thing then come back with something to prove, rather than doing it for the sake of doing it.

Everyone has their dream set but to try and give the best overall show for all fans I'd do the following:
  • Have a good rock song open every night but mix it up, e.g. Happy Now, OWN or even IML.
  • Have the audience sing IML intro acapella like Prayer
  • Original Bad Medicine and a seperate cover section that is mixed up regularly and unpredictable.
  • Capt Crash goes on rotation with Older and some mid tempo stuff
  • BTBMB goes on 50/50 rotation with Livin in Sin
  • I would set a limit of 3 LH songs max on one night.
  • WSYCGH has the number of "alrights" cut and is shortened to 5 mins max.
  • Acoustic set that gets mixed up a lot SFTP, SDIBSN, BOB acoustic maybe.
  • At least one song off TD played every night but not just Diamond ring repeatedly.
  • One Bounce song every night, perhaps in the acoustic set to give it a different spin.
  • Redo bad name, new graphics and banter, etc. Change place in set further down.
  • Always/BOR on rotation perhaps or have at least one big ballad sang every night.
  • Occasionaly chuck in songs like Santa Fe to keep the die hards happy.
  • Revive the BJ and 7800 songs again.

Theres more than that I could think off but the aim would be to a give a wide range of songs from the catalogue and to keep it fresh by altering the position of songs in the set and the song structure.

Remove Lost Highway songs and covers, and put a kick ass opening act.

Best regards,
the Sexx

New live arrangements that get the set standards interesting It can be as small as the changes they did to Lost Highway on the last tour or it can be as drastic as what they used to do with Living In Sin and Blood On Blood. Give value to the live versions to make them something to clamor for beyond the studio versions while removing the repetitiveness of hearing those standards in the exact same arrangement for so many years.
