^I agree. I've been around about a year and posted just over 100 posts. I check in daily (sometimes several times a day!) but usually whatever I have to say, someone has already posted that comment so I don't bother.

I'm glad I have the password because I would feel bad about posting on here and asking for it. I realise that I am not a well recognised name so people might not want to help me out - and thats after 100 posts!!

Without being a pedant can I point out that you state 'I joined a year ago' and yet your joining date shows May 2007, which is about 6 months at a push.

There are lots of people who posts loads and others who just read. Look at me - I joined in 2003 but have only posted 100+ times. Its the joining date that counts not the amount of posts. There have been a number of people with new joining dates and less than 10 posts on here recently asking for presale codes so you can see why people are wary.
I can see why people are wary. I myself wont be giving out any passwords either.
My post was because it was suggested that someone who didn't post was not a fan.
And for your info, this user name is not my first on here. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing....
Perhaps people should be taken at face value, and if you don't want to give information then don't.

it annoys me when people give out passwords and links. Another forum i went on (totally unrelated to anything musical) a memeber started posing links for pre-sales for concenrts and i had a severe word with the moderators about it, if i had gone on this morning and seen a link to the bon jovi pre-sale i would have been devastated.

I got an email this morning with the link and password for the UK presale. I hope the same password works for Dublin as its the only gig I actually plan on going to. Anyone whos been shafted by not getting the email, PM me and I will give you it if you seem like a genuine fan. Maybe if I am having difficulties getting a Dublin ticket for the same reason someone will offer me the same helping hand. We are all Jovi fans here at the end of the day, well a good 95%+ anyway....

Well I hope they stick to 2pm because O2 went on sale around 18 minutes earlier than stated and I missed out.

Generally how does the ticketmaster site perform on these, does it grind to a halt?

Since I'm more of a lurker than a regular poster (and with a low post count), I'm reluctant to offer my opinions on the 'true fan vs tout' debate, but here goes anyway:

1) Despite what my joining date states, I've been coming to this site for a hell of a lot longer. On two occasions in the last few years - probably due to my own inactivity, or maybe site maintenance - I've had to re-register as my details were gone. On the most recent occasion, I had to re-register in order to post links to my videos from the Croke Park concert I had attended two days previously.

2) Why the low post count? Since the official site has always been poor, and is in fact now worse than ever, Dry County is my primary source of Bon Jovi information. Due to the limitations of the message board format, I'm reluctant to post as someone, somewhere, will always misunderstand and reply with abuse or ill-advised 'humour'. Protected by the anonymity of words, handles and avatars, it's very easy to be a smartass, and I've been caught up in so many pointless flame wars on other forums that I can't be bothered to contribute to discussions unless I have either genuine questions, or feel that I have something constructive to offer.

3) Having a large post count on this or any forum is not necessarily a barometer of quality, especially when typing one word or an emoticon contributes to the total (everytime I see someone offering 'meh', I feel like tearing my hair out in frustration). As someone else has already pointed out above, you can join this forum with minimal effort, and so there's nothing stopping a farsighted 'long con' sort of tout from building an apparently respectable reputation with a bit of patience and a few meaningless posts every week.

4) Many so-called true fans are not averse to touting themselves, and here's a typical scenario. Say you only want two GC tickets for Twickenham, but with access to the magical presale password, you give in to temptation and buy four instead, with the extra tickets ending up on eBay. You'll get your money back, and then some...

A low post-count or recent joining date - while admittedly suspicious - do not necessarily denote someone as a predatory tout. Despite what my post count indicates, I've been a fan since 2002, and saw the band in Dublin in 2003 and 2006. Just remember that when I start sending out PMs begging for the Dublin presale password that I inevitably won't have received from the many organisations who otherwise have no qualms whatsoever about sending me crap that I'm not interested in lol

Very judgemental on here! You have to post to be a fan I have been a fan for many years and joined this board about a year ago -I don't post usually but I do read this almost every day- am I any less of a fan? I think not! I also have the AEG info, so not looking for anyone to give it to me. It is understandable no one will give out the password (either will I) but you shouldn't be so harsh with people imho.
I never post on either but I'm usually here reading up a few times a week, it doesn't make me any less of a fan than anyone else. I don't come here to look for codes etc either. (although the beginning of the week I was after info for the Tampa part of the tour, which I now have) In fact I think I was the first one to post that the pre-sale link was out.

To be honest guy's do you really think ticket touts come on here looking for passwords? you can only buy 4 at a time anyway! and how do you think they have tickets for sale on ebay before the are released?
These people have contacts inside the ticket agency's, that's how you see someone selling 50 plus tickets. I know someone who made a living doing this a few years back, he was making thousands every week and had someone working at a certain on-line ticketing agent and paid them a percentage.

I agree with everything you're saying Annie - I've been registered on here for a couple of years now but not many posts. I have other forums and places to get around when I can get on the net (which isn't very often). Doesn't mean I'm not a HUGE BJ fan - have been since I was 9 and first saw them live in 93....I can't afford to join the fan club now like I used to when I was a teen (usual xmas present) or follow the band to every gig like I used to, but I too got the password because of the last BJ tickets I bought and I can't wait till 2pm!!

Default grades

its the levels of touting isn't it.

yep - the big ones who have 30 tickets for sale when the limit is 4 will not be on here as they have contacts at promoters, ticketmaster, seetickets etc

however there will be a lot of smaller fry on here looking to make a hundred quid or so by buying 2-4.
