I have a vast collection of interviews with the band and I've never heard Jon say he would loose his job if Richie sang. I believe that he might have said it, but probably in the same way he says that to the audience when he lets them take over. He's being nice.

I have heard Richie say that Jon is one of the best frontmen in the business and that he knew Jon was a star and that's why he approached him and wanted to be in Jon's band. Think about it for one second--if Richie thought he himself was a better singer and performer than Jon, he wouldn't have wanted to be Jon's band. He would kept plugging along in his own band, waiting for a big break.

Some people think Richie is a better singer, but that's just an opinion. It's not a fact. Just because YOU think it doesn't make it objective. You're just as biased as anyone else. I personally think he sounds forced and overbearing when he sings (like Michael Bolton, Scott Stapp, and the guy who sings beer commercials on the radio). I also get very irritated with remarks that imply that if you like Jon as a singer and performer better it has something to do with his ass. His ass isn't singing. I don't buy CDs and go to concerts to look at anyone. Females can be there for the music and the fun. Personally, I CRINGE when he starts shaking his ass because it annoys me.

You, Florin, are the LAST person who has any room to make comments about people being there for Jon's ass since you've made it perfectly clear in your posts that care more about "looks" and "attitude" than musical integrity. You're the one who thinks Alec is better than Hugh because Alec looks/acts more like a rockstar. So you throwing rocks at someone about confusing Jon's talent with his looks is pretty meaningless. Sorry. I'm not saying that to be mean, but it's hypocritical of you to accuse and criticize others for such attitudes when you have them yourself.

Actually, the beginning of the solo sounded pretty good, the vibratos and bendings were not too sloppy. After that, it simply sounded as if he didn't know how the solo went like - rehearse it some more gooddamnit!

You might discuss Jons guitar-skills or his voice but when it comes to entertaining and crowd-pleasing, Jon might be the no. 1 of the world!
However, thatīs just my opinion.
Look at my name: SamboraQueen.. obviously I am a HUGE Richie Sambora fan but this statement above is right on the money. I totally agree he will never ever be a better frontman than Jon.

The all request hour, the girl in the front row has just asked for Blood on Blood, ok, Merry Christmas young lady!" Amazing <3

Also a Richie-lover but I have to agree, a frontman needs something more than raw musical talent and Jon's got it and Richie hasn't. I'll be sooooo dead happy if Richie performs IBTFY at Hull on Tues but I wouldn't want to watch a whole show of it. Jon's fun and cute and vivacious and gets the crowd going. Richie is an ace guitarist. Put the two together and it's great. Why question that?!

But to be honest, that wasn't any solo guitar Jon was playing. Even if Richie would have played that solo with Jon's guitar it wouldn't sound as nice as it used to. I remember that Jon played whole song with that guitar so there isn't setting for solo. You cannot make any weird voices with it, if you don't have a pedal... Did you see that guitar, if there's anybody else who knows about guitars than me, you should know that wasn't any "dry county solo guitar"!

It's the same that I would try to do those Livin On A Prayer beat box sounds with just a ordinary microphone!
