Default I Send Greetings From Amsterdam

Howdy folks, just got back to the hotel and thought I'd give you's a little first hand review of the Amsterdam gig.

What a day, picked up the album this morning which actually managed to out do my wildest expectations and then it was on to Holland to see the boys in person. They played for about an hour and 10mins. Great venue, small, intimite and terrific sound. I got a fantastic place about 7 rows out from Richie. Despite the excrutiating wait, all was forgiven when they kicked into a ****in' amazing performance of LAST MAN STANDING, that song tore the roof off the place. What a start! Then it was a phenomenal performance of BAD NAME and a perfect PRAYER. Jon nailed this one, infact he was absolutely phenomenal all night. His voice was strong and powerful right through. Richie was absolutely on fire and the other guys were as perfect as always. HAND absolutely rocked in person, an accoustic performance of SATURDAY NIGHT was a very nice suprise, the usual suspects were there too including IT'S MY LIFE, WANTED, RADIO, BTBMB and SLEEP. WHO SAYS............? was another highlight and the set was rounded off with RAISE YOUR HANDS followed by a mind-blowing version of KEEP THE FAITH. Man, Jon sounded good on this one.
Unfortunately the show was rounded off predictibley with BAD MEDICINE and the only gripe (and it's kinda a big one) is that there were only 3 new songs played! Very dissapointing because not only are there countless gems on the album but the 3 new songs they did play were probably the best recieved songs of the night.

Still a minor blemish on an absolute perfect day. I feel extremely privilaged to have witnessed such an incredible show in such an intimite venue and boy oh boy will I be counting the days till the next show. Jon, Richie, Tico, Dave and Hugh, you ****in' rocked!

I hope you guys who saw the webcast got to experience just how amazing it really was! Have a Nice Night!

Phil

Thanks for the review! It's good to hear what it was like in person.

I agree. I have a strong feeling Phils review will be very different from Sebs

Seb: Jon sucks.

Think it'll go something like that?

Hehehe! Well we will just have to see. I think we should stop ruining Phils thread though

i'm completely disappointed by that concert. was the sound so bad or jon couldn't sing at all? he sounded extremely low, like he was singing from the outer space. you could hear richie when he was doing the backing vocals much more than you could hear jon. they couldn't sing together it was like jon couldn't hear the rest of the band. and he was out of tune in the first songs then he sounded better though. and the same old songs...

Here in Greece we watched the show through Mad TV and they completely ****ed up the show for us.

They had commercials every 10-15 minutes and two idiotic VJs who didn't know what they were talking about.

They even interrupted the live show just to get us back tot he studio to tell us that the band played the "classic" Have A Nice Day and the new song "Radio"!!!

The sound was bad for most of the show and you could even hear the song they were listening at the studio in large parts of the show, plus the voices of the VJs!!!

The show was not that good. Especially in the begining John couldn't sing at all and Last Man Standing was heard like it was unplugged or somehting.
But then he got a bit better.
