Basing that on stories from London 2008, Manchester 2011 for starters. I dunno there's been obviously some good shows (HRC 2011) but for the most part I'm under the understanding that Germany, Italy, Spain usually get the best shows of the European leg.

That's just bollocks. I've seen them in 6 different European countries (5 of which they play regularly) and UK shows are on par with anywhere else. Yes - some cities get better shows than others - but that's just a guess really, more than anything else. I've seen them in Munich twice for example. Once they were brilliant, once they were ok.

To be honest, for someone who has seen them 10+ times, the crowd makes a massive difference and that's where I'd say that German crowds and UK crowds are quite lame. That's why, if I'd go see them on this tour, which I won't!!!, but say I did, I'd go to Southern Europe or maybe a festival (Slane or Isle of Weight). A good crowd makes the performances slightly different, more passionate, even if the set is shit and Jon sounds like a donkey.

Rambling...

Christ, will you stop trying to shadow your Dutch puppet master all the time? It's embarrassing. You're no longer even posting any unique insight. It's just hateful trolling.

Just because you couldn't afford to take in any UK dates on the last tour you seem to want to bash the place all the time in some attempt at making yourself feel better but this time you've made yourself look really stupid.

Grow up.

Jon has said his favourite place to play is Dublin and Richie's is London. So if their opinion counts then those are the places where it's at but everyone is different. If you're from Munich, you're going to feel comfortable seeing the band in Munich and the same goes for any town.

My choice is down to wherever is going to be a special or new venue. The band have never played Slane or The San Siro (I think) so they should feel like big occasions. Some mid week show in a generic stadium probably won't set the world on fire.

Crappy if you're a uber fan who wants rarities maybe but I'm sure the atmosphere was far greater than most shows on that tour.

Some of those stories are just that, but I think a few of those gigs suffered from over expectations rather than the gig being bad in itself. I didn't mind the Twickenham gigs at all, they were solid, but people just expect them to be better than they are, but they werent worse than many of the other gigs on the tour. Bar 2011, Manchester has always had a better show. The smaller shows in the UK are usually pretty standard.

Yeah, I'd agree with that. Although when I saw them in Coventry on the Lost Highway tour Jon and the band were really up for it but the set list was pretty average. Tis a lottery on most occasions.

I've heard the weather was like 40 Celsius degrees and that's why they didn't do a really long show. And even then, they threw Always in there and in a recent interview Jon mentioned Greece being one of the best crowds in the world. Romania got its first ever show in 2011 as well, but it was a steller show, same with Udine (first one in Italy in 18 years), so Jon's rule of not delivering in the new places doesn't really apply in Europe IMO.

To answer the question, I'd probably go with London. We know the band loves it, Jon said he loves Hyde Park many times, and the 2011 show was great. The band rarealy dissapoints in London, plus due to Hyde Park being GA only, it's gonna have a better atmosphere than most of the gigs, so if you're young and enthusiastic about jumping and singing your heart out and not look like a weirdo when people around are just chiling, then that's definitely a thing worth consideration. Also, no matter how many times you've been to London, it's always a nice place to come back
