I'd say Slane, Madrid, Milan or London. I also have a feeling Berlin will be special too.

As I'm not going to any shows this year for various reasons (initial plan was to go to Stockholm), I would this year go for Milan. Close second would have to be Cologne. Went to Munich last tour which was good (great, even), but there's always a bit of "worry" attending the earlier shows on every leg.

What happened at the Manchester 2011 show?......apart from it pissing down it was a pretty decent show..

Romania got its first ever show in 2011 as well, but it was a steller show, same with Udine (first one in Italy in 18 years), so Jon's rule of not delivering in the new places doesn't really apply in Europe IMO.
Italy, first one in 18 years?? You mean 8 year surely. And yes, Bucharest (Romania) was stellar indeed. But it's tough to beat that venue. Every single gig I have seen there was stellar.

They basically place the stage right at the end of that bouelvard so that the bands face the House of Parliament which is covered in light as soon as it gets dark. In between the band and the building, there's between 50 and 70 000 people. I think it's the best location I have ever seen a rock concert in, and I am not saying it because I am Romanian myself. It's really great. You can only play that square on weekends though and it needs to be MASSIVE so it's quite rare too.

Just in case someone forgot:

I'd prefer Edinburgh for your first stay and if you've got time the area of Loch Lomond (around Glasgow) is amazing. You can also use the bus which is really cheap.

I would choose Milan, Slane and after that Cologne and the Spanish one

I wish I was going to slane this year, but only hyde park for
me. Part of me thinks it will be special as its the last in the European leg but another part says it will be just hits as its a festival.

For me it'd have to be London and yes i'll be at the London show. The place nor the band fail me in this city even though many would disagree.
